Re: Making the C: my master drive

Hi Tony For a Windows XP operating system some of this does not make sense. Let's simplify and try to make some sense out of what you have. On the desktop right click My Computer and choose Manage from the drop down menu. This will get you to the same Computer Management window you saw earlier. In t...

Re: Anyone have/use an SD card reader?

Hi Ya MrAl I have one of those 10 in 1 card readers that I shoved into the computer when I built it. I like and prefer using it over connecting the camera to the computer as when the camera is really loaded with images I get a much faster transfer rate from the card to the computer. Removing the car...

Re: atx power supply problem

The method you are using should still work just fine. The green wire is the PS_ON command and is pin 16 on a standard 24 pin ATX PSU connector. Unless you have a non standard connector or non ATX standard PSU that should work. You are placing a logic low on the PS_ON line and it should turn on the u...

Re: "Error code is 2330"

Before deleting any registry keys I would start by running chkdsk from within windows. This should help get you going. You don't mention the AV program you were trying to download?

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks and the same back at you. It was a nice quiet day of great food on this end. Ron Hey you American guys, does pardoned turkey taste better than non-pardoned turkey? ;-) What were they guilty of? We usually make our turkey self-basting by adding strips of bacon on top of the turkey. They turke...

Re: LIGHTNING...

Probably 80% or greater of the times I have seen where lightening strike I walked away wondering why it chose to strike where it did and logically defy every rule I seem to think it should have followed. Apparently lightening is unaware of how we seem to think it should behave. Years ago the house b...

Re: Town flood, power outage, backup power ideas?

I personally thought the 2 KW Honda generator was a great idea. Every time this sort of subject comes along there are going to be the same questions. A few 5 gallon gasoline cans and a 2 KW Honda generator is fine as long as your power needs don't exceed 2 KW. Which brings us to needs. Earlier in th...

Re: Is this forum dying?

Hi Ya Peoples While I agree with Len to a point, I don't fully agree. Yes, this forum has become quiet but other electronics enthusiast forums seem to be thriving. I mentioned in my last post that the magazines could be doing a better job of promoting this forum. For example MPC (Maximum PC) magazin...

Re: LED Christmas lighting strings.....

Every year we go through this circus and every year I do the same thing. The wife drags out what are by now literally hundreds of strings of Christmas lights and string by string we plug them in. Inevitably some will work and some will partially work and thus the agonizing process begins of finding ...

Re: DVD Ripping Software

I also shrunk a whole season of Monk down from 370MB each episode to about 260MB for each episode so i was able to fit a whole season on one DVD disk! 16 episodes per season so that's only about 4.2GB per season! The quality is just as good but i cant go any lower than that or the quality starts to...
