Rear projection TV

I was given a Magnavox tv. The guy said "the picture goes off and on". I am thinking that it is something simple. The thing is big and very heavy. I was planning on keeping it on the enclosed porch while I test it but, since I have never had one and I didn't get a manual, I am not sure on this. What...

I have a Station2A from Circuit Specialists. It uses Hakko Tips. Is uC controlled. and is only $45. I got two irons for mine so I can have a Small tip - for smt - in one and a general purpose tip in the other. You can see it here: http://www.circuitspecialists.com/prod.itml/icOid/7508 If you get thi...

I haven't done it, but I would be willing to bet that an FPGA could easily handle this. There may already be something out there to base it on.

The Tristate flea market (off 294 near Worth/Alsip, IL) has had a guy there for what seems to be more than 20 years selling car audio stuff. I have not been there for several years but he used to sell all of that stuff. His tables were always very busy. Could be longer than that... I remember buying...

The big tab on it HAS to be ground. There is a dead short from that pad to ground - there is a ground plane type trace from it to pin 5 of the DB9 serial connector - which is ground. As for which exact regulator it is, I will look around and find one. --edit Looks like this one (or one like it): htt...

The regulator is .170 across by .95 high. on the top there is a ground tab and on the bottom there is : left pin - Vout, center - not connected (same as ground), right - Vin. On the case, the only markings are 8C FE on 2 lines... I am fairly sure it was 2 resistors (with a 105 filter cap). The regul...

This circuit is just a RS232 level converter. Goes between a radio and computer. Coming in, there is 13.8v which goes through a voltage divider and feeds an (SOT-23) regulator which, in turn, feeds the MAX232A. The MAX232 is no problem - I already replaced it. I am having a head-scratching moment wh...

Voltage regulator question

I have a 5v regulator and with 8v in, it only puts out 2.15 volts. What is up here??? I kinda thought if a regulator fails, it fails miserably. Could it be that a filter cap is bad? Would that give me these odd readings? I feel weird asking this basic question but I have never had a 7805 type part f...

Looks cool. You gonna get 5000 of them from that exporter?

My son would love that. I'll have to keep my eyes open for em.

I looked at the schematic and no, Vdd and Res are not hooked to anything. They are pins 5 & 6, respectively, of the Basic Stamp 1 module. If you look at the schematic of the BS1 here: http://www.parallax.com/Portals/0/Downloads/docs/prod/schem/BS1SchematicRevB.pdf If you look through this: http://ww...

Actually a USB microscope was the first thing I looked at. I have heard that they did not work well for doing electronics. I also wondered about lag (if any). But, obviously, the one you have works well. Which model is it? I have seen a boatload of different ones on ebay.

In side the Pic family, what is a good Chip to start with (I don't know the difference between the 16C's , 18F, or the 16F) A PIC with an F in the name (10F, 16F, 18F) is Flash, a C is one-time-program. There are (as I mentioned in a post above), 3 different instruction lengths for the 8 bit PICs. ...
