Only thing you have to do is remove your head from the sand, look at 1000 cities around the world, read the statistics that tell you over 100,000 people each year die from particulate matter [smog] in these cities just in the US alone, see the color of the air, watch the snail pace traffic, and wel...

For anyone else interested, a discussion of the CCRANE: http://www.xmfan.com/viewtopic.php?t=3257&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 However, I can't find anyone selling the CCRANE, and some people say that new versions can't be turned up. The online manual for the Ramsey kit: http://216.239.51.104/se...

In 1994, U.S. residential vehicles traveled 1793 billion miles ...........or 1793 billion pounds of WHAT,..... nature??? [1.8 trillion pounds] I'm not going to bother to check your numbers, I don't have to, you're just proving my point anyway (at least, if I can figure out your preposterous grammar...

Try keeping up with science, not the politics of a few ignorant in the WH. Let me take the facts straight from the book "Chemistry: Precision and Design": -At least 94% of the earth's greenhouse effect is caused by water vapor. Less than 6% is caused by CO2. Of all that CO2, over 96% produced each ...

What FM transmitter setup to use?

What should I get for an FM transmitter so I can play my CD-player in my car? I've been hearing poor reviews of most small battery-powered FM transmitters, and I don't really want to waste batteries anyway. Would a Ramsey FM10C Tunable FM Stereo Transmitter kit for $44.95 work better? I'd like to ge...

Re: $100,000 global environmental design challenge

...submit innovative designs that utilize electronic components and have a positive impact on the environment, for example by increasing energy efficiency or reducing carbon emissions. Unless you're talking about stopping up cows or volcanoes, how will reducing mankind's cardon emissions help the e...

I'll order some resistors if I really have to, but I don't think I'm going to be filling my car with lightbulbs. Okay, in my car the speakers are all 4 ohm and 10 watts. The newer speakers are 9.5 ohm in the front and 4 ohm in the rear. They don't have wattage ratings printed on them. The newer rear...

I just haven't bothered to look at the speaker yet, the old ones need to be unscrewed and the newer old ones are in a box. I'm sure the numbers are there. Like I said, this is an 84 Tercel, and I don't have an amp, just an 84 factory radio. I'm probably not going to use any l-pad or even resistors, ...

What would happen if I put two 8 ohm speakers in parallel, then put a 4 ohm (or more) resistor in series. Then I just avoid high volume, would this work? I can figure out how to even out the resistance, I just want to know what's going to affect volume, and whats going to blow up my radio. Actually,...

Which way to wire: series or parallel?

I'm not up to snuff on the differences between voltage and current. So when you have two different speakers, and you want to run them from the same mono output, is it better to wire them in series or parrallel? I think that series would double the voltage requirement, but does this affect volume? Or...

Back issue download for May is missing the cover article

I've read Nuts and Volts for a while, but only recently subscribed. I'm interested in the cover article for this issue, but it doesn't seem to be in the list:
