Re: CNC Router anyone?

Yes, I am aware of many CNC forums but I was hoping to attract someone that does work similar to what I am doing. Most of the time I am cutting flat work, like front panels and enclosures for products I produce. Square or rectangular cutouts used to be a royal pain and now it's just draw and cut. Ro...

jack Question

I have a Pyle portable amplifier in for service, with a couple of the front panerl 1/4" jacks broken. They are 1/4" TRS (Stereo) jacks, but they have two isolated switches. They have 7 terminals, Sw1, Sw2, T, R, S and it is board with a threaded barrel. The jack body measures 27mm long. 17.5 mm wide...

Re: Bud Metal Question!

Years ago I struggled to repair a water spot on a piece of furniture. The more I worked, the worse it got. I caller MinWax tech support and they helped make it disappear. First, don't sand just the area, make a bigger area the repair so it blends gradually. Next don't use fine sand paper first. It b...

CNC Router anyone?

Just a shout out to see if anyone in this dwindling forum is doing any CNC fabrication with a table top router. I've had mine up for about a year and have had pretty fair success cutting plastic and aluminum panels and enclosures. I would like to compare notes and discuss modifications I've done and...

Re: Technology Backfire?

I wound a 4 foot 1,000,000 turn coil of wire on the roof and hooked up a diode to charge the battery. It kinda works but the car turns left ok but its cranky on right ones. The GPS brings me back to where I started from in 23 hrs, 56 minutes and 4 seconds, the left turn signal is a bit faster than t...

Re: TV lacking remote control...

My shop set is a Vizio smart set and it would turn on from the remote but no other remote buttons worked, and only unplugging it turned it off. The remote was swapped with another proven remote with the same result. I found a power and main board set online for around $30. Swapped them out with the ...

Re: Bud Metal Question!

Most of the dings are on the back of the cabinet
where a fan cutout is milled. The front has a lot of machining but that is covered with a graphic overlay.so it is clean.
Since this is a product being sold I just want to cover the bare metal showing through.

Re: Technology Backfire?

Right now the Honda has been behaving itself, but, we use it more frequently than we did at first. Now that the weather is getting better for those outside tasks, I will plan to get a list of the phantom load circuits and we'll see if that helps unravel this issue. I understand from a friend that at...

Bud Metal Question!

I am looking for a source of touch-up paint for Bud Metals line of PortaCab enclosures. I think it is a common light gray color that is used on many of their products. Some of the many PortaCab enclosures I use, from time to time mysteriously develop 'shop rash'; manifesting as a ding or two. I cont...

Death Rattle?

I just spent considerabe time on the Nuts & Volts magazine site. It is no wonder we are dying, there is NO obvious mention of this forum. There are loads of links to the magazine articles and their print 'tech forum' I went there because someone I mentioned this forum to could not find us, and I als...

Re: Diode forward/reverse resistance measurement

I'm not sure if this discussion is about component specifications or troubleshooting. Curve tracers and component testers are needed for specification evaluation, but a good front to back ratio usually tells the story for open/short for troubleshooting.

Re: Technology Backfire?

Our 2019 CRV failed to start only one time so far, and it has been parked several days straight without use. It seems that Honda is quite clueless and so far the Honda community is almost as bad. There is talk about software updates that don't exist, keeping a full tank of gas, or stopping then star...

Re: Technology Backfire?

hacklesup I agree that the measured voltage drop across the fuse could be quite low, but any voltage drop would indicate a suspicious load. The value read is a relative indication, and probably could not be used to calculate the actual current. I also agree it's a possible shot in the dark, but bett...

Re: Technology Backfire?

Hi all, I've been behind the 8-ball lately and there has been no time to collect readings from that new Honda, but then it hasn't been parked as long so there has been no starting issue. Some thoughts are forming and the single big question is ..'Why do all these various systems need to be powered w...
