Re: Microphone in a bubble...

Do I see into the future, a Sulfur hexafluoride and Helium gas mixing system, putting gasses into a acoustic chamber for the next generation of guitar adulteration?

No PDF Allowed!

I just tried to attach a drawing as a PDF and it was rejected.
That seem like a bad restriction, so what file types are allowed?

HVAC Missing 'C' wire

I was recently faced with installing a programmable HVAC thermostat, but the new thermostat need the 'C' (common) wire and that was not in the existing cable. I searched and found a gadget called Add-A-Wire that adds 1 extra wire to either a 4 or 5 wire existing thermostat cable. It's about $25 and ...

Naw, go work on a Stroger line switch, a step by step office or a crossbar at the ancient telcos.

I'll vote for a 1000 position, single pole rotary switch with a pulley.and ....Ooops, showing my age again!
Really though, in the days of yore, theater marquee lighting was operated by motor driven switches, and I'll just bet the RFI was splendid!

Neat solution to a sticky problem!

If you've been looking for a way to fasten a sheet of anything thin, like aluminum, pcb, plastic, wood, etc. to perform milling, engraving, routing, sanding, or whatever to its flat face. Here's the best idea I have ever tried and no, it's not my idea. It's been kicking around some CNC forums lately...

Re: Experimenting with Hot Glue..

I use Permatex windshield silicone sealer. It is flowable and levels nicely. I have used it for years for some potting applications and never experienced corrosion issues. Most silicones require humidy to cure so exposed surfaces cure first then it gradually cures deeper and heat will not accelerate...

Wire Wrap Stuff

I just uncovered an old stash of wire wrap tools; A hand operated wrap gun, and bits, a hand wrapper, un-wrapper and maybe more.
Since posting pictures here seems to be a problem, if you're interested just PM me and I'll send a snap.
Swap,trade,buy...whatever works!

Re: Beheaded fatty nail as soldering tip...

Regarding the Weller soldering gun. Wind a coil of bare #12-10 copper wire about 1.5" diameter and 2" long. Coils cannot touch, and shape the ends to fit the soldering gun barrels. It's a really fast and clean shrink tube heater, or for forming plastic rod and tubing! Make different shaped coils for...

Re: Why is there no way to contact the Administrator?

If I have the time and inclination I will try to keep them in a conversation as long as possible. I get pretty creatives sometimes, and have trouble suppressing my laugh! I once had the 'Microsoft Guy' holding for about 15 minutes, while I went to 'look for my credit cards' so he could get paid to d...

client??

I'm running win7 and I see 'client' with no extension in the application window of task manager sometimes it goes away briefly and sometimes there are two of them. Nothing closes it and no services or processes are linked to it. I ran 'What's Running' that gives an in depth look at what's happening ...
