I know the line that is used for the tachometer carries a positive voltage and the ground wire must be plugged in to on the fan connector in order to get the rpm reading. I think it might be 12 volts, but i'm not sure. will have to test it.<p>John, thanks for the link and how would I make a circuit ...

I have a couple of 120mm panaflo fans. They are great for what they do, but they have no tachometer so the motherboard doesn't know how many rpms it's running at.
