usefulness of PIC ICD2

I'm saving up for a new programmer... right now I"m using a Pic Kit 1 (support for 8,12,14,20 pin mcu) and I have a JDM style at my Brother's house (because he has a serial port). I'm considering a new programmer. I'm planning on switching exclusively to 18F series pics, except for the occasional 12...

Best paper for toner transfer

I've been trying out different papers for toner transfer pcb creation. Last night I've had the best luck yet, and printed two circuit boards that came out perfect. The paper I used was "hp soft gloss laser paper" hp's part number is C4179A and it comes in 200 sheet packs. It's 32lb, so it feels a bi...

Give me three and then I can configure a RAID 5 array so that I have 2 TB of redundant storage. I've been playing with video, and if you want to suck up a hard drive fast, that will do it. I'm just messing with standard def stuff, but someday I'll want to try out HD. I can't imagine what kind of dis...

Re: Eagle

Just a question. Does anyone find the Eagle software to be confusing? or is it just me? I have the same software, I see that it could be something very good to work with if I could understand it, lol. I have made some progress with it but everytime I think I got it, lol, I don't. I will get it down...

If you glue [or tape] the catalogue paper on normal copy paper as a backing. You can see the making here. http://thomaspfeifer.net/direct_toner_pcb.htm Here it's used normal Scotch tape. Nice guide, I've never seen mentioned the trick about placing the copper on the iron in order to flow the toner ...

On a related note, it's getting more and more difficult to find N&V/Servo in the book stores... Make, Circuit Celler and EPE are much easier to find. I'm not sure what the difference is between those mags and N&V/Servo. However, one thing that might be note worthy is that N&V and Servo are in the dw...

I'm a little concerned with the impact of this material on the inside of my printer.

Anyone have a bad experience with a particular material?

I suspect Christmas catalogs are plentiful, so I'm going to grab a few and stash them away while they're available.

Toner transfer pcb irony

So, as many of you probably known, the photo paper you buy these days, even the cheap stuff, is not really paper, but instead some shiny, slightly porous, plastic feeling material. The pictures you print on it look beautiful, and presumably they last for years with out fading. Unfortunately, they do...

Too bad its hard to track down who does this... if you think about it, people who spam this board are actually lowering its value, and under US law (and other countries), this is illegal and known as " Trespass to chattels ." So, Michael puts a disclaimer on the board stating that spam is off-topic,...

Yes, C is high level enough if it has easy to use libraries readily available. However, and maybe I just haven't looked hard enough, most of the C compilers give you a basic language with stdlib and thats about it. MikroE gives you i2c, sound, pwm, SD/MMC, button debouncing and tons of other stuff, ...

Thanks for the reply... in response to my last point I made in this thread about how cheaper parts can simply be soldered into a circuit vs. more expensive parts such as this and the BS which are not nearly as disposable, I might have just had a flip-flop in my thinking... I've found in the last few...

Another idea might be to ask a question that would be hard for a bot to understand... "What number comes after three?" "What is one plus one?" It's funny but it might work, unless we have an evil human out there :) I have that on my blog. It asks simple math questions. I still get some spam though....

It will be interesting when, instead of creating posts they simply reply to existing posts. What moderator would delete an entire thread simply because of 1 spam among the many replies? Or, maybe the moderators can purge individual replies (if so, I can think of a dozen times that would have been us...
