Re: DC Step Up Chip - what is soft start?

Hello Matt Nuzum I have used a switching regulator in the past where soft start was used to show the ramping of the output voltage. Changing the softstart cap will change how fast you want the output to ramp to the desired output. Smaller is faster.... I remember I ran into one problem using a switc...

Re: Telescope Dome Controller

Hello WhiteFeather You asked "the basics of shaft encoders? ie, starting with WHAT is a shaft encoder and how is it used?" They are real simple devices that can keep track how far a shaft has turned.. I made one from a old mouse that was laying around my house one day.. http://www.sambuchi.net/Proje...

Re: Home Made Oscope

Mr. Smith thanks for the outpost.. looks like they hae been been around for a while Mr. Reed .. good point. You made me do more homework and you are correct. I scoped my B/W Cammera at work with a Tek O-scope "NTSC trigger". And the frame that i was looking at was about 150kHh but that will change w...

Home Made Oscope

Just curious... I have been searching the web for an o-scope to look at a composite video signal. The old Tektronics still run well over $200.00 My price limit.. :) So I came across a way to use your parallel port, little hardware and free software to do the job. I am about to build my first scope t...

Re: Drill Motor Controller

you can run a 12 DC motor with a H bridge circuit.. very easy to build and as Mr. Smith said.. make sure the FETS can take the load. not sure what a triac is.. but most any micro can run a H-bridge. i like servos personally.

Re: robotics information

emad hassab.. "please take my hand to do it from A to Z " .... you are not going to get far with that attitude. robotic projects take a lot of research on you part.. you cant expect to have someone to pick parts for you to use.. I will tell you some ideas to get you started.. line following can be a...

Re: Senior Design Project (EE+ME)

Well, i'm a EE i remember back in college anoher classmate tried to make an arm that could be used by a "joystick" the first time. After you were done with the task the arm would repeat the same task over and over again by recording the joystick movements.... his arm was done very sloppy but the ide...
