Variable PS Design

Anybody know of a good design for a 0-30 Volt variable supply? About 3 Amps and regulated, of course. Variable current limit would be a nice plus.
Don't need to supply schematic, just a general idea and where to look.
Paul A.

Re: Error in oktober issue?

Only one. That would be a record. N&V is filled with errors. I doubt that anyone on the editorial staff has any electronic or computer knowledge at all. This has been a long standing situation and I gave up trying to send in corrections.
I would wait for 2-3 months before ever starting a project ...

Re: Etch Resist Pen

Art supply stores sell rolls of adhesive tape in various widths. You can buy several and apply them directly to the board after doing the pads. It's a good idea to carefully run over them with a seam roller (as in wallpapering - Home Depot, etc.) to be sure they are no voids under them where the etc...

Re: circuit board question

Proto boards come in a variety of styles and can be used in different ways. The single pad per hole is perhaps the most difficult and the most versitile. One technique I have seen is to mount the components with minimal solder and then wrap small diameter wire around the protruding ends of the part ...

Re: Forget Hydrogen

"Free" energy, sure. Just buy a photocell.
More energy out then you put in, sure, just convert some matter to energy inside it. (AKA, nuclear weapons). But, then you really did put it in, just in the form of matter. So, no, it will not work.
A violation of the law of conservation of matter-ene...

Re: Ground Loop Isolation

You can't have a "ground loop" problem withour a ground loop. So you have to ask yourself, where's the ground loop? Your computer card and amp were connected via the shield so there is one side of a potential loop. So, is anything else connected between them? If not, then, the most likely path for t...

On Target: In the Trenches, July 05

I haven't hung around here much or made many posts, but perhaps that will change. So, I hope this is not out of line for this board. If so, shout me down and I will go away --- NOT!
I just read the "In the Trenches" column, titled "Managing Engineers", in the July issue of N&V. This is not really...
