Re: Odd Commercial Products.........

Wow! I just saw a Bell & Howell Disk Lights commercial, and they say these revolutionary devices utilize "solar conversion technology" and "energy storage containers". Does anyone know about these revolutionary technologies? ;) :) :D /sarcasm off/ CeaSaR Around the 25 second mark: https://youtu.be/G...

Congrats!

Guess I need to dig out my dear departed Uncle's old Hallicrafters and see what I can hear. :)

Re: Any integrated circuit that works as the old tone decoder but for RF ?

Shortwave and the old Air band. You could set up some divide by chips and feed them into the ADC pins of a microcontroller, sampling the pins at X intervals, to see when the signal comes through. Then the code can compare the frequency to a range, and if it falls within, it can output a high to turn...

Impending Forum Milestone

For all of us old timers on here, we have memories of one prolific member. I can't say what types of memories you have, but none the less, the name Chris Smith brings back a time when the board was quite active. He has been the top poster for as long as I've been a member. Well, it seems that we are...

Re: Info / schematic request

Resurrecting this old thread because, well, its still on the shelf. Looking to get a few minutes to look at it this weekend (yeah, right). Found this little piece of Ad copy that gives me just a bit of info on the age. Man, takes me back. CeaSaR https://i.postimg.cc/r0pZM6Cf/AD-with-Claricon-Stereo....

Anything stand out in the owners manual /guide? Heated seats on? Nav or Siri or other connectivity on? Just going by what I quick scanned here:

I still don't think that it should go flat that quick.

Heck, I even scrolled back through the pages to see if that was posted. Must have scrolled past it before the image loaded. Re: Technology Backfire?

Hmm... Not really, just deductive reasoning following all the info presented so far. About the closest I've come is with my last car, a 2001 Chrysler 300M, when certain passengers would use the personal interior lights while I was driving (all the while being told to NOT use them while I'm driving -...

Re: Technology Backfire?

Temps aren't supposed to be that extreme, 20's F (I'm only about 3 hours or so from Len) won't strain the battery much unless it was already on the cusp. Just for S's & G's, at night, leave your keys (however many sets) at the far end of the house away from the car. Then go out and inspect for any l...

Re: Technology Backfire?

It's amazing that the old cars (pre-any computer control) could sit for over a month and still start. Even my old 1985 Caprice Estate Wagon with "computer controlled carburetor" (not really computer, I think it was logic controlled via feedback from the O2 sensor) could go over a month before showin...

Re: Technology Backfire?

Out of curiosity, what's the current draw when the car is turned off just sitting without anyone in it? Even with a modest draw in order to keep certain systems alive, which incidentally should be in power saving mode individually, the battery should last for quite a long time - definitely more then...
