Re: slippery screen

You might want to check the settings for the screen sensitivity, etc. It might be set to something like "glove mode" or the "cursor setting" may be too small or too large. If all else fails, or the settings get too far out of whack, use the "set to default" button. I'd rather check these first inste...

Re: Citizens band (CB) Radio: Who still uses it?

It's been a good few years since I've used mine. Both units are sitting in the basement. Kind of hard to use a gutter mount antenna when you no longer have a gutter to mount it to.

Wood, some of the best stuff for music

Everyone knows that wood is a pretty universal building material. It is used in just about every aspect of life from construction of buildings, forms for concrete, impression forms for sand casting metals, making furniture, handles for uncountable number of utensils, implements and tools. In the ele...

Re: fading away

I check in daily, often multiple times per day. Wish I had more to talk about, but work has been outrageous over the last year or more.

I've got a project on the back burner I might bring forward to hopefully garner some traction here.

Re: Of some interest!

Using the FR4 dust reminds me of using wood dust / leavings with wood glue to make filler. Ends up being a lot stronger / durable than just the glue itself, as you said, having the extra substrate to hold onto. The big aesthetic plus is that it looks more like the original substance than just "glue"...

Some Reed switches in place of the momentary units, mounted near the knee area. Then strap some magnets to your knees as actuators. Maybe left knee up and right knee down.

Or not. :D

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Have you thought about any of these answers? Have you talked to your mother to see what she wants? I have my own questions about the CD player. 1. What is it not doing or not doing correctly or as it used to? 2. Where are you located? I don't need pinpoint, just generality is fine. Might be able to ...

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Only reason I suggested what I did was because of the state of the internet at the target residence. If you can get a larger phone or even a lower end tablet, you can use either the headphone out or get a Bluetooth dongle to connect to the original stereo via an auxiliary input. Either rip and store...

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Most of the MP3 readers I see are on Banggood or AliExpress. They are dirt cheap, accept SD cards and require a minimal amount of additional hookup to work. Re: what is this thing ? Westinghouse LMT-100 Load controller

I didn't think about it back then, but it looks like a carrier controlled off-peak meter. I have an old off-peak meter outside of my house that I need to , at some point, have removed, and it uses a mechanical timer to switch the power on and off to the meter. This looks like the updated version cir...

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Does her computer have Windows Media Player? It's really easy to use. You can make up playlists like the CD player and do the same thing. I do believe that if you have the playlist saved and the file extension (I think it's .PLS) associated to the program, you could make a shortcut to it on the desk...

Re: Counter Cunundrum

So 2 "new" modules and counters. Anything else from the machine you took to the shop? Sounds like something else is "worn", maybe a weak transistor or some sketchy wiring / bad ground issues that are Band-Aided with the cap in place. As you say, it makes no sense as to why something would not work w...
