Two line scan cameras (not cheap 18 years ago but available with 1024, 2048 or 4096 ccd based pixels) should, if I understand your project, give you what you need.

Back in the 80s, we plugged in a light bulb and counted the pulses. 3-2-3 Then we looked in the book for the code? Has this changed? Just a tad. Now your car keeps tabs on everything you do. Our EPA test has gone from a probe up the tail pipe and 5 minutes on a dynamometer to a connection to the OD...

Re: Is anybody else scared?

There is very little Lab work in an Engineering curriculum. Everything is taught in a very isolated why (here's how to bias a transistor) etc...and a lot of time is spent considering ideal components....with everyone nodding off when they get to non ideal aspects....additionally, there are a lot of ...

>About the Base, it seems to be working, I'm not sure I fully understand the issue about Saturating or lack off. From the data sheet for the transistor --ON CHARACTERISTICS-- , MIN Hfe (current gain) it looks to me like you need to provide about 5 mA to the base pin in order to get about 300 mA thro...

Re: LED help

If you put a resistor in parallel with each led, the resulting chain of resistors will form a voltage divider that will force the same voltage drop across each led. Of course, the resistor value has to be low enough to that each LED can pull current through the resistor if its hungrier than the one ...

Re: Microsoft Streets and Trips, w/gps GRIPES!!

In fairness to Billy G., I feel compelled to point out that it IS called STREETS and TRIPS, not LAKES and DIPS. :-P

now... if you're saying the map shows streets where the lake ought to be, I'd say you have a gripe.....

Ask the guy that sold you the LT1193. Linear Tech makes lots of power supply chips. 1054 sounds like one that will flip a 5V input to -5V...

Re: OrCAD 6.1

I knew Orcad as a schematic capture package. For that it was fairly easy to use, as long as the component you wanted to draw was included in a library. Adding a component to the custom library was a bit of a pain. However, you seem to be referring to a circuit simulation package. I vaguely remember ...

Kurt - Do the tracks have side walls that you could bounce ultra sound off? That would give you a side to side measurement...of course you would have to make provision for the other vehicles blocking your measurement.... Could you add an encoder to the wheels to measure linear distance...you could, ...

There was no Chip that I could find. This is a September 1982 Sony KV-1952R we have been discussing by the way. Anyway, with your input and a few confirming web pages discussing other TVs, I took the bull by the horns and replaced said electrolytics. I am happy to report that the Fold-over has been ...
