Re: CNC question

I wuold consider looking at a used flame cutter. these things were designed to follow a drawing using a rotating mirror and are quite accurate.I remember a surplus outlet that advertises x-y tables in nuts and volts at good prices.
Good luck.

I have a pair of radio shack intercoms that i think uses that system to work inside a house. I did get a neighbor through it once and it had to get by two pole pigs to get to me.

Re: spark plug voltage

Take the wire from the coil side and holt it about 1/8" from the ground while the engine is turning. If it sparks it's ok.

Re: Cigarette Ligher Polarity?

su's wow what a great design for a carburator. Learned about em on an old TR3.I bet they outperform even a modern fuel injection system in all ways but emmision control standards and even than i think they actually give less pollution per gallon of fuel.

Re: Using MOSFET with MCU for switching?

some things folks tend to neglect is the power capacity of any kind of transistor. That's usually given in watts or some fraction thereof. You must multiply the amps times volts to get the watts. Another thing to consider is the fact that mosfets need to have the gate driven in the oppsite polarity ...

Re: Best FET to use?

i have had good luck paralleling irfz44's. in order to keep them cool, a high current source to charge the gate caps is necessary to keep them cool.Dont forget to use a reverse diode to stop them from smoking-that is a bad habit.

Re: 1v to 5v output

sounds like you need a couple of millamps.I would take a a 5-10 k pot and hook the 12 v. source to the outside ends. Now, hook a wire to the middle terminal(wiper) and the other wire to the terminal attched to the negative side of the pot (adjustable resistor). Walla... an adjustable (low currant) v...

Re: Testing Ballasts

If all the connections are good, and the stsrter is good I think those units used a start button if so check the continuity of the start sw and if that or a known good starter is being used and you know the tube is good when you turn it on the tube will emit a glow at the begining and end of the tub...
