Re: Automatically switching 2 audio signals based on input l

Okay, here's where I ask for help.
This is what I have so far, it's basically the audio detection module of the circuit:
http://www.shootdashizz.com/images/audioswitch.jpg
V1 is the PPC audio source. The 1k resistor after the opamp is just a dummy resistor for simulation purposes. R2 is just...

Automatically switching 2 audio signals based on input l

Basically, I need to switch 2 audio inputs based on which one is currently "active", and I need to do it automatically.
More in depth, here's the actual situation: I was given a GPS receiver for my Pocket PC for Christmas. The Pocket PC speaker isn't loud enough for me to hear over road ...

Reducing power surge on AC adapter

Quick and simple question:
I have an AC adapter for a laptop that's killing a 12V inverter. The power consumption of the adapter is well within specs of the inverter, yet the inverter is overloaded and shuts off due to an on-power surge.
How can I limit this surge?

And remember, with the wall wart you can draw a higher current for a short period of time without damage.

Theoretically, you should be able to make your own controller card on some displays, but that'd just be a stupid thing to try to do ;)

Re: High Power Amps - guitar, car, PA, etc.

Just thought I'd add that a true Class A amplifier will realisticly be much less efficient than 50%.
I know people that have built some class A amps that are lucky to get 10% efficieny.

Re: White LED strobe

I'm not going to go into the whole technical aspects of the project.
What I want to say is that a conventional strobe is not instantly full brightness and then off again as an LED is. An LED does not take nearly as long as a flash tube to "light" to full brightness.
Jolly Roger, the re...

Re: pioneer parts id?

I can't remember where at all, but I've found an internet resource for those types of chips before (multichannel amp, STRXXXXX). I serviced a car audio cd receiver that had some chip like that and needed a new one (casing was cracked open, leads literally torn in half).
Anyway, I'll search around ...
