Re: Ultrasonic Bird Repellers????

The only problem I see with an audio solution is driving your pets crazy ! I've experiemented with a sig gen just to see what the dogs and cats would respond to, and I got quite interesting results. Anything from 10k to 30k out of a 1" PC speaker with a 500mW amp drove the pets insane. Hopefull...

Dean,
If you're still considering starting your magazine, I'd be more than happy to create the layout and put it all together. I've gotten so much from the electronics community that I'd love to give back as much as possible.
~Kyle

56 VCT Transformer?

Hello everyone, I need a 110V center-tap transformer, so I can get dual 55V feeds to my supply circuit.
Needs to be 400W total handling. I've looked everywhere , and I don't want to spend that much money. Anyone have a used one, or know where to get one cheap?
Thanks in advance, ~Kyle

Re: Ring Tones and Graphics

I'm not sure how to convert the ring tones to the right format, but MSN Messenger allows you to send text messages over the internet to a cell phone. That part can take care of the sending of the message. As for the conversion part, have you tried emailing the people in UK and explaining the situati...

Re: Help with diodes and waves

Brad-
Okay, here goes:
A standard diode such as the one you are talking about will only pass current in one direction. That is, in your textbook circuit, the positive half of the wave will be passed through the diode, and the negative half will not.
To revert to the electron-flow version:
El...

Yeah if you have a couple of them extra that'd be awesome. Oh yeah, I got the PCBs from Advanced Circuits today.

Re: Reliable No-Parts PIC Programmer

The reason I use PICs is largly beccause they offer free samples, so I don't have to really buy the PICs. Another thing is they are RISC, and I'm not sure if the motorolla parts are.
I'm really not ready to switch processors at this point, unless I find an extreme bargain on an eval kit.

dacflyer-
Yes I got your stuff. The turqouise LEDs are really neat!! I like those the best. I tried to include all the stuff you would need, except the elctret mic because I don't have any of those extra. I think I remember you saying you had a couple so hopefully you do!!
~Kyle

Re: transistor bridge

Good ol' XOR, famous in the world of microcontrollers. Very useful if you are checking a register for a certain value!!
variable XOR constant
the constant is the value you're checking for. The function will equal 0 if the two values are the same. Simply check the MCU's zero value flag.
No_Vice...

Re: Again, reducing voltage for Chrismas lights..

Ah...okay, now everything makes sense a little bit more. So basically you're just going to put the whole unit inside your juke along with the cut strings of lights, yes?
The voltage can be tapped directly off the juke's power plug on the inside...it probably feeds a transformer. You can connect th...

Re: Again, reducing voltage for Chrismas lights..

The only real difference between the original diodes and the diodes you replaced them with is the current rating. The new ones are much more "beefy", so they can handle more current. You don't need to be concerned with replacing these, and they will work fine in the current state.
That r...
