Re: Throatenna
This is similar to how one would hold an antenna in a strange pose to improve an analog TV reception with rabbit ears back in the days of mechanical tuners without PLL. Yep. And the signal strength would then change when you walked away from the antenna. You don't need to be touching the antenna to...

Re: How to build a wireless security system i.e. p
If someone is worried about the voltage drop on a 1000 foot Romex line at 120v, why suggest a low voltage phone line? It'll be far, far worse! Because phone cable is dirt cheap and if it is a low amp and low voltage circuit than it can be the generic phone cable gauge (24G?). Really don't care abou...

Re: How to build a wireless security system i.e. p
You might consider burying 6 conductor phone line instead of a 120VAC cable. A 1000 foot run for 120VAC, even for circuit of only a couple amps, is going to take a fairly hefty cable rated for burial. Big cost to bury to 2.5', and if it ever gets ripped up, big cost to repair. Phone cable can be run...

Re: Wide angle web cam or lens
Another possiblitiy is to just hack a "fish-eye" lens from a door peep hole on to your camera. They are very wide angle and you can probably pick one up at the local hardwares store for a couple bucks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/artemisthephoenix/1932526223/ has an example, though not a ...

Re: Portable television...
Many digital TVs (and most of the digital converters for use with analog TVs) have a "signal strength" indicator. Usually it is both a bar graph on the screen and an audible tone. The tone lets you monitor the signal strength as you tweak the antenna position, even if you can't see the TVs...

Re: HHO generator project
Why do you want to use 60V? You said eleven plates so I assume your are running ten cells in series. The original 12V battery was putting in 1.2 volt per cell. Same setup with a 60V source and you are putting 6V in per cell. Really no need to do that. You only need 1 to 2V per cell to get the electr...

Re: $50 Oscilloscope worth the money for a hobbyis
Heck, you've already got a "$50" Oscope. Just use the sound card on your PC or laptop: 48KHz, 16-bit, dual channel recording Oscope. There are a couple freeware apps available for using the soundcard as an Oscope. You usually can't do DC measurements but anything in the audio range is a pi...
