Schematic Software

What's a good, easy-to-use shareware/freeware program for creating electronic circuit schematic diagrams? I would like one which will provide graphic output in a common format, such as GIF.
Thanks!

Re: Temp Sensor

That's along the lines of what I was thinking -- wonder if anyone has experience with some of the temp sensing diodes like the ones from National Semi? When I did something somewhat similar seveal years back, I used a couple of comparators and a thermistor. The special diode should be better (more l...

Temp Sensor

I'm looking for a little ciruit to light one of three LED's in response to temperature, using a small probe. One LED should light if the temp reaches approximately (somewhat user adjustable) 80 degrees F, a second LED should light at 90F, and a third should light at 100F. Input on sensors and dedica...

Re: Project

Bob:
I didn't give all the specifics because I didn't what to take up that much space on the board. There are a couple of temp points (around 176F), and several timing cycles. Nothing too complicated, just details. I can email the full description to anyone interested.

Re: Ni Cad chargers help

Several years ago, I was interested in building a charger for a 9v rectangle rechargeable replacement, and did a little study of the subject. NiCADs really are much more quirky than anyone might suspect at first glance. I mean they've been used for years and years in a host of consumer and industria...

Project

I wonder if someone would be interested in a little project I've been considering. It involves temperature and time control of a low-voltage DC relay with 20A @ 120VAC DPDT contacts. I considered simply hard wiring a circuit using timer chips and related parts, but the multiple temp and time trigger...

Timer Chip

I'm looking for a chip to implement a long-range (approximately 3 minutes to 30 minutes) interval timer function.
It should be compatible with digital logic, having an edge-triggered start pin and enable/disable input. Two modules in a single chip would be ideal.

The 5165 is a later model -- older ones are worth next to nothing.

(Optical) Motion Detector

I'm looking for a very low power, sensitive, stable circuit fragment to detect motion at a distance of approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inches.
The sensor should work equally well in daylight or total darkness, and interface with digital logic, operating in the range of 5 to 12 VDC, with a current drain i...
