Re: Are you a Subscriber? Why, or why not?

I have already commented on why I am a subscriber. And the gentleman on the last post did have a point. I build robots and I do not use a pic controller. I am old school and also have an inventory of TTL and CMOS chips and I use a Z80 as my microprocessor. I use 2716, 2732, 2764, and the wonderful 2...

Re: swarm robtics

Life gets to busy ,but one of my joys is receiving my Servo magazine. I have subscribed from the very first one. It is exciting to get a magazine dedicated to Robots!!!! As I was checking my account status I decided to poke around the forums. I will have to do it on a more regular basis from now on....

Re: swarm robtics

You know I have been building robots for years. I have built several BEAM type robots and some other robots that respond to light. I have found all aspects of it fascinating. I am presently working on upgrading a circuit in order to incorporate it into my latest creation. It is often slow and detail...

Re: Are you a Subscriber? Why, or why not?

I have been a subscriber since the very first Servo. I find the articles well written and in every issue I have found something useful, new. It does my heart good to see a magazine about robots and only robots. Years ago I survived the drought in robotic publications. I am a hands on robot builder a...

Re: swarm robtics

When it comes to any type of robotics, knowledge is the key ingredient. You will find that as you progress in this exciting endeavour that realizing your lack of knowledge is the first step to true learning. Swarm robotics is not just one robot but a whole bunch. Now I build singular robots but the ...

8051

You cannot beat those old processors. Years ago I built a circuit using a Z80, Z80-PIO, 2716 Eprom. I programmed the eprom to flash some l.e.d. s. Well when I fired up the program it would run for 30 seconds and stop. The program was supposed to make a loop and continue until the power was turned of...

solar trakin

Dear Solar Pulse I too have been interested in having a tracking solar collector. I built a prototype that would track light but it just sits on my desk. As such I can give you no technical advice. However over the years I have collected a few articles that detail building such devices. Let me know ...

Dear MrAl I too often type faster than I spell and so the world looks at this type of message with patience, I hope. It is sad that you have to post such obvious behaviour rule to adults. I feel that those of us who build robots should know better. I believe that building such wonders of the modern ...

Mr. Mims

What can a struggling, not so young apprentice of electronics say to thank you for your wonderful teaching. Over the years when working in electronics and robotics you accumulate books and more books. They sit on your library shelf and are pulled out when an idea comes into our heads. I sit at my de...

How to build robots for beginners

My fellow builder to be of these modern day wonders we all started knowing little. Something has sparked your interest and believe it or not you will soon get the robot fever. To date I do not know a cure and I personally would not take it if there was one. I do not know the path that others have ta...

David Heiserman

I read David Heiserman's books when I was younger and they are still on my shelves for reference. He was one of the unsung heros for robot builders.
