Re: Boosting AM - Still Done The Same Old Way?

Some stations use directional antennas to avoid interfering with neighboring stations, and radio waves can and do bounce of hills and buildings.
this may explain your getting the station in another area. try calling the station they always want more listners and will be happy to speak with you.
m...

Re: Dynamo- radios

I added a UPS to my tv satellite tv. now a hour power failure isnt a big thing. mostly I did this because the reboot time for the satellite reciver, like a tivo, with records to hard drive. its 3 minute reboot, and thats a lot with a power burp during prime time.

Re: Windmill

My best friend has a 14 foot blade windmill in his yard he uses to charge 12 volt batteries.
He uses old car batteries because the energy generated is worth less than the cost of replacing batteries. were in pittsburgh, in the right spot it might work. but solar cells on the blades, forget it. rui...

Re: Inverter transformer

A really cheap source for inverters are old UPS uninterruptible power supplies with dead batteries. seemingly they are everywhere at free prices, since batteries are expensive, and people want smething new.
lots less work than building your own.

Re: Power Switch for computer

Hard drive manufacturers clain longer drive life, and longer everything life just leaving things run 24 7 in power save mode. The thermal cycling can be hard on your computer. I intentionally never turn mine off...They do go in sleep mode when inactive...

Re: CATs and Home Depot.

cat 5 bought in a 500 foot roll is pretty cheap. better to just run it, that leaves you extra cables for possible future use :)
Overr the years I have done that and put some stuff on remote controls.
extra wires never hurt a thing....

Re: EMF from electric blanket?

About 5 or 6 years agp EMF became a issue and current blankets are lower and supposedly safe.
I have a friend he believes one day everything electrical will be in conduit to prevent such exposure which might be a cause of cancer.
Just like homes have asbestos removal they will get all their elec...

countdown timer

As part of my game building activities I am looking for a countdown clock. Some sort of circuit or device that could be set for a short period of time say 60 seconds and countdown to zero. perhaps using LEDs or small light bulbs.
Any ideas and thanks for the help.

Re: Need cheap fire bells

Thanks for the suggestion but this game has to be lightweight. Brake drums are way too heavy. I built one of these about 8 years ago and its had a ton of use. My minestries friend has constant requests by people wanting to buy them. Last weekend I helped pack up after a 2 day show and people request...

Re: Zapped ROM cards

I dont object to a person doing it ONLY for themselves, out of the challenge of it. Its the folks who sell and spam the world that bothers me. Frankly I would like to see some end users in the slammer along with the sellers. This would discourage everyone involved.
The widespread theft devalues th...
