Re: Help on calculating Wire Gauge for outdoor scr

Hi haklesup, I was thinking more in something like the rubber circular connectors from Amphenol (http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?SKU=61F1749&CMP=AFC-GB100000001) . They fit from #14 to #18 AWG wire. They fit really well on the conduit we are using and once the pair is connecte...

Help on calculating Wire Gauge for outdoor screen

Hi Everyone, I have a technical question regarding calculating the wire gauge needed for a large size custom made screen I’m working on. This is the dilemma: The screen uses a maximum of 9.2 amps @ 120 VAC, Single phase, the length of the cable will be 150 feet. If I calculate the gauge needed it ca...

Thanks a lot Dyaker!!! this is fantastic!! the first working prototype of one of the 200 pix panels should be ready in about one or two weeks and then we can try for real. Rob, I got two of each one of the circuits (the second one for free!, a nice surprise), would it be of any use if I assemble the...

Hi Dyaker, A test program will give us plenty to keep us busy i think. I should get the PCBs this week but the PIC code hasn't been written yet so I think the proto board won't be ready to test in at least two weeks. I totally understand about the licensing, let me go over the UNM contract again and...

Hi guys, Rob, I finally sent the two boards to a PCB manufacturing company named pcb-pool (http://www.pcb-pool.com). They have some kind of sharing system that for the final production may not be cost effective but for the prototype is fine, they are about $80 each board in total, shipping included,...

Hi Rob, Thanks a lot! That sound's like a 007 agent mission... enjoy. you're right. I'll build them by hand and then once we know for sure that is the final board I'll send them out. I think we should stay with the single layer since there is a big difference in price between one and two layers, and...

Hi Rob, I hope you're having a nice trip. After trying on the cnc we don't think we are getting the precision we need on the boards. This Tormach is a new piece of equipment they got at the School of Visual Arts where I teach and they haven't figure out the "right" way to do it yet. So I d...

Hi Rob, Thank you thank you so so MUCH!! You're great! Say thanks to your brother too! We are setting up a new more precise CNC machine, the old one it may not have enough definition, so this Wednesday we will give it the first try. They work with Eagle Cad software directly connected to the machine...
