Re: cleaning battery contacts in solid state devices

They used to sell these at Radio Shack. I found them online and bought a dozen. They work excellent for cleaning battery contacts and dull copper circuit boards. The only problem is the fiberglass strands break off, but once you know that, it's not a problem. I use them quite frequently in PC board ...

Re: Happy 090909

Fixxer, My sympathies. Thanks- I really loved that dog. She is/was absolutely precious to me. At the vet, I connected the 9:09 AM part. It wasn't until I got home and entered the withdrawal in my bank account that I realized it was September 9th. It was only 3 weeks ago, but it seems like 3 years.

Re: 4-20mA into 5V PIC A/D inputs

I like it- thanks! I'm going to order a few from Digikey to experiment with.

BTW, reloading makes good sense these days

4-20mA into 5V PIC A/D inputs

I was wondering if anybody here might have some tips for connecting a 4-20mA sensor to the A/D input(s) of a PIC running at 5 volts. The sensor is a two-wire type run off of a 10-30 VDC supply. I have already got an op-amp circuit built, but I was looking for any pitfalls which might occur if, say, ...

Re: Happy 090909

On 09/09/09, my precious Italian Greyhound, Allegra, got very very sick, and I had to put her down.

The instant she stopped breathing, I looked at the clock on the wall: 09:09 AM.

So, 09/09/09, at 09:09, I will never forget.

Re: How to record serial output to audio file

Heathkit's Hero 1 robot had a scheme to record programs to cassette tape, IIRC at 300 baud. It would take me awhile to find my notes, however. I remember using XR2206 function generator chips to implement modemlike circuits back in the 80s- 1125 Hz= Binary 0 and 2250 Hz= Binary 1. We used an XR2207 ...
