whenever i use wire wrap wire for prototyping , i never use the little tool. i take the wire, wrap it around the component lead once or twice , and solder it to the lead. typically the iron will melt right through the insulation and you will have no continuity problem, this also allows you to make m...

really what has to be done is to program a microcontroller to run a predefined set of instructions which turn a motor or activate a solenoid to run compressed air through a piston to activate the mouth. you would then have to either use an instruction from the microcontroller to start the cd player ...

really what the debate is here is skid steer vs a tricycle type design right? dc servo's come in many sizes all the way up to enormous 100 + volt servos used in large high precision machine tools. they can be cost prohibitive at that size, but they are out there. keep your eye out too, because somet...

i have to disagree about this "two phase" thing for an electric dryer...220 really is a single phase, the sinewave is split in half by the nuetral , and "two phase" only applies when you have a 220 , and a 110 tap. but then it is using a split phase tap which means that the appli...

I've run into this problem before with indutrial dc relays (big , 125 amp suckers) with 40VDC coil voltage at about 1/2 amp throwing current pull. the problem we had was with the current draw being too high for the source to effectively source. the relay would pull closed, open , pull closed , and o...

typically radio shack is one of the worst electronics stores in this area, all they sell is overpriced crap anymore. i went to RS looking for a cat 5 patch cable. last week , and they wanted 7.99 for a 6 footer!!! OMG i went to our local industrial electronics store, and picked them up for 2.99 a pi...

i have found that old c-band satellite dish azimuth postioners (jack-shafts) which are linears actuators use a nice 36 volt high torque motor to drive the jack-screw, what i do is drive around town, looking for old c-band satellite dishes, if i find one , i talk to the owner, most people don't use t...

what about a diplexer of the type used for running a tv signal over the same cable as powered lnb's in satellite systems? there is a dc power passing i/o side and a dc blocking ac passing side and they are readily available from satellite dish installers, they use a standard 75 ohm connection for bo...
