Re: Three phase power, from 220V line??

In the heavier wire (cables), roughly #8 size and larger, colored wire is not usually available, just black. Convention is to use colored vinyl tape (just like the usual black electrical tape but colored) to mark the cables inlieu of colored wire full length. For 220 (actually probably closer to 240...

Re: ADC signal into PLC

Yes, I did read that the Op-Amps typically don't like being close to the rails, and as part of the voltage divider resistance between Vref and ground for the sensor I was going to be at the ground side. I am waiting on a Mouser order (hopefully today) that includes some Jfets and CRD's (not my initi...

Re: ADC signal into PLC

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to give it a try
Yes, the sensor is a true variable resistance. I don't have any more info, other than it is GM (General Motors) standard type sensor and would aaume the wattage is sufficient to handle a mechanical gauge. The only info was 0 - 90 ohm range. The OP-A...

ADC signal into PLC

I have a Tri-Plc T100MD-888+ PLC. It has Analog 0 - 5 volt input, and 5 volt reference voltage available. I have a fuel level sensor that is 0 - 90 ohm range to interface, only need around 50 or so steps, and can handle calibration/non-linearity with lookup table or Basic programing.
Also what wo...

RS-485 Phone Dialer

Looking for a phone dialer that will on command from a PLC on RS-485 dial the phone line, send a select message (maybe 6 or more), and voice it, and then depending on DTMF tone coming back, stop, or dial another number, etc. application is a home control system that includes a standby generator, obj...

Re: Backup power for PLC

Then I need a battery charger of say at least 6 amps, 3 amps for the PLC, and 3 amps max. to charge/maintain the battery. Haven't bought the charger yet, so that's a possible. If I understand the UPS's use a "make before break" mechanical relay to shorten the switch over time? The PLC 120v...

Re: Backup power for PLC

The 12 volt coming out of the battery is useable as is by the PLC. But problem is switching over to the battery when 120 volt AC goes down. I guess the theoretical would be a double throw relay to switch between the 2 supplies, with the coil on the 120 volt supply, when the 120 volt drops out the re...

Backup power for PLC

I Have a PLC (Tri-PLC T100MD888) that will be managing a Tri-Fuel standby generator. Normal power for the PLC will be a 120 VAC to 12VDC linear power supply. The 120 VAC will either be power company or from the generator. There is a delay between switch overs of up to a minute or more. The generator...
