Re: LCD and Gyroscope

Do you mean like AR or VR type apps? Move the screen around and view the 3D model? Interesting but synching graphics to the accelerometer output is way over my head. r-Pi with good graphics on board already seems like the best platform to start with. Sounds like you need more than just a uController...

Re: MCP2551 Circuit Problem in automotive

Need more clues about how the module failed that caused you to replace it. An easy check is to use the diode check or resistance range on a DMM and check each pin with respect to the ground and/or VDD pins to look for shorts or opens that are not on the good unit. If you find that, it indicates an E...

Re: Translated signals (multiple level) with LS7366R

I haven't dug into the meat of your specific application but the crux of level shifting comes from analysis of the DC specifications part of the datasheet. In particular, you need to verify that the output logic levels from the first stage are compatible with the input logic levels of the second sta...

Re: Amplifier Comparator LM311P Using Problem

I suppose you are looking at the current path R6 thru D1 thru pin 7 to pin 1 of U2 to ground. Since this is used as a comparator, we can assume it is either fully on or off and not in any active region Since the CE configuration acts more like a switch it kind of acts like an Inverter. When the tran...

Re: LCD and Gyroscope

The MPU6050 chip and similar chips are available on a module with interface PCB for Arduino from Adafruit and sparkfun from various sellers so I would say integrating accelerometers like this one with most uControllers should be possible, especially if you can find a code library and use it out of t...

Re: Do i need to buy a ballast resistor ?

I've only had to add load resistors to the turn signals because the flasher relay requires a minimum current to run. That resulted in variable flash rates under different load situations so I found a solid state flasher relay and replaced that in my fuse box and now it works with or without the ball...

Re: Compatible NAND Memory Problem

Hi Bob, I saw your email, not sure how to reply back that way. I don't write firmware, My perspective is more from a general device testing perspective but that gets me looking at a wide range of datasheets along the way and experience with DC characterization on these parts. Are you using the TSSOP...

Re: Compatible NAND Memory Problem

If you can attach to it with your programmer then you are probably addressing the device properly. I suppose if the programmer expects a certain size and if its not, it might report that as bad blocks but I'd think modern programmers are smarter than that. I'm not sure what the AAT suffix means but ...

Re: DIY pancake slip ring

Heat treating while a science, you need to know your starting material and have control over the process to make it predictable. https://materion.com/-/media/files/alloy/tech-briefs/at0015-0311---tech-briefs---heat-treating-copper-beryllium-parts.pdf According to this I would guess you are starting ...

Re: DIY pancake slip ring

the material of choice for electrical contacts is BeCu with gold plating. The Berrillium copper alloy is harder than pure copper and can be machined or stamped into shape and it will retain that shape and can be heat treated for other properties like spring tension. The gold plating passivates the s...

Re: How to Explain It...

"from what I can see though, there is NOT enough time spent on theory, and that makes the hands-on activities simple rote behaviors with little understanding." That's not surprising, schools have to cater to the least common denominator (the barely average student) in many cases. The object in high ...

Re: Help to find Battery

If he was insisting it all had to fit in the same battery pack, then you probably did the only reasonable thing. If you had more space, 2 Li-Ion with a buck boost regulator stuffed in the third slot might have worked but those cells are too large to fit. Did you weld on the tabs or just drop in?

Re: How to Explain It...

Maybe not applicable to classwork because they lack a detailed lesson plan but there are some great electronics kit companies out there, either PCB level assembly kits or assembled modules you can piece together, SMT and thru hole versions. Most sell on ebay and amazon then you can figure out their ...

Re: How to Explain It...

the new circuit is better because it switches power at the primary side of the transformer turning off all power while the first circuit had a design defect allowing half of the circuit to stay powered. in the first, the switch effectively cut the power in half but it was always sufficient to light ...
