Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?
Dot matrix by the rate of release, should be all digital by all rights by now. I suspect there is a shortage of fresh content as well. Without staff writers that would be very inconsistent relying on independent contributors. Such a writer would probably need to be an engineer or at least engineer c...

Re: ASTC 3.0 or NextGen TV..........
Ya, this El Nino storm killed cable for almost a day, Watching the Grammys on OTA was a chore with all the audio dropouts. To be fair, my outdoor Aireal also blew down and was lying on its side.

Re: HD Radio
"just have to figure out what cars / trucks have them." With many of the newest cars having basically a tablet computer embedded in the dash, it's not abundantly clear if these can be installed in a different vehicle or if they would even work with the CAN bus disconnected. If you are luck...

Re: HD Radio
The market for OTA radio at home is a shadow of what it once was with all the competition from streaming, I pretty much listen to it only in the car. I did find the new form factor for "Portable Car Radio" to be rather interesting and maybe due for an upgrade in my old car.

and the rollout is already in jeopardy due to Patent disputes. (This may change again). And the Lawyers are doing their thing again. https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/30/23897460/lg-drops-atsc-3-0-support-fcc-broadcast-tv https://www.via-la.com/licensing-2/atsc-3-0/ $ 0.30 per unit licensing fee, does...

Re: ASTC 3.0 or NextGen TV..........
seems that OTA is catching up with streaming and cable services. One question begs, how many stations are broadcasting now? your description implies new TVs won't also have a ATSC 1.0 Complient tuner as well, I think they will. my New TV still has a useless NTSC Analog tuner. I also expect older TVs...

possibly a video driver got updated or an actual bug fixed. Windows makes a lot of changes quietly.

Re: Send Sound Across Livingroom Wirelessly
I was thinking this one over and now I feel that a low-cost FM transmitter and a transistor radio adapted in some way (wiring mostly) would result in a workable system with little delay and only modest bandwidth compression. As long as the receiving radio has enough volume that is. For example https...

Re: Send Sound Across Livingroom Wirelessly
it's going to be tricky to pull off without creating a small delay and volume differential to that singularly de-wired speaker that might ruin the surround effect. One usually wants to drive paired speakers from the same amplifier. you might need to do whatever to both. With that caution, if you sea...

Re: USB C at 240 watts, how?
I wasn't familiar but found a good table on Wikipedia, it says quite a lot on this topic in the second half of the page. Evidently there is a 240W configuration in Type C called USB 3.1, it is still 5A but requires 48V so would only be good for charging larger devices like laptops in that configurat...

Re: Simple power supply, modular design
Use the fast blow fuse at the DC output and sized to protect the load. Slow blow can also be used if the load occasionally has short surges that the cap can keep up with. If you can find the datasheet, then you can discover the time to blow at any given overcurrent. Use the slow blow at the AC input...

Re: Building a CNC Router
Seems like adapting an off the shelf 3D printer kit can accomplish this with different file type input and less component selection. There are also off the shelf CNC kits with controller and steppers but not necessarly the gantry frame components. Drilling is wood isn't necessarily demanding for tor...

Re: How To Print Out Schematics
Schematic creation is an Art in itself. The way the author breaks up subcircuits, uses off page connectors and hierarchical features all impact readability. I prefer large sheets with lots of components even if it prints poorly at letter size, it can be looked at any mag on screen. often the paper i...

Re: Antenna for Cell Phone!
If you have internet in these areas, Wi-Fi calling is intended to make the connection when the 4G/5G is not useable. Most new phones and carriers support it. WiFi repeaters are cheaper and simpler to install/setup than anything 5G related. If you are in a 4G/5G dead zone, call your cell provider and...

Re: Antenna for Cell Phone!
I see that link but for the record, those cell phone boosters were for now obsolete Analog phones. Those phones often reduced TX power to save battery, the sticker tricked it into transmitting at full power. besides that, the OP can search cell phone booster and see the same results we did.
