Re: Poking fun at the coronavirus.

"i'd only use it for a few min. at a time." If you were in the room with it, you were using it wrong. Ozone generators have timers so you can set them and come back after they have shut down and the ozone has had a chance to react and dissipate. A level control is not what is needed, an occupancy se...

Re: fading away

Its about as busy as a Fry's Electronics Store in here.

Have you been there lately, you need to clear the cobwebs to find what's left on the shelves, amazing they can keep the doors open like that.

Re: Poking fun at the coronavirus.

I'm surprised Ozone generators have not gotten much attention yet, The do kill viruses of all types very efficiently. I suppose its because improperly used (like when you are home) it can be toxic and harm your skin, eyes and lungs so policy makers don't want to make things worse by suggesting the u...

Re: OTA TV frequency reallocation

So this seems like something that needs to be done regularly because you never know. My smart TV also combines OTA with Streaming channels which tends to blur the lines, they call it TV+ but I think it is Pluto TV for the most part, which is actually quite good.

OTA TV frequency reallocation

I noticed some of my local TV stations telling us that if we receive their broadcast over an antenna (OTA), we should rescan the channels after 10AM (PST) on Monday because they are moving to a different frequency and this is required to continue receiving. Has anyone else seen these notices? I only...

Re: How Do you Clean A Deep Fryer?

Check out Dawn Platinum power wash. It is a new product (wasn't available when this thread started) and supposedly cuts through grease allowing a wipe to clean scenario. its only about $5 so worth a try. I recently saw the ads starting to run on TV. https://www.mediapost.com/publications/article/344...

Re: Compressor problem

I replaced the capacitor, the motor runs longer but there is still an issue. While now it can pump the tank up to ~90PSI, it can't quite make it to 125 to activate the pressure switch. The symptom is the same, it runs until it appears to not have enough torque to push the piston then it stalls. Once...

Compressor problem

I have an aging Compressor that started malfunctioning last year. It would fill the tank to partial pressure (~25psi) and then the motor would stall (without electrical straining noise) and periodically spin for a few revs then stall again and repeat indefinitely. Initially I thought it was the pres...

Re: Voice-operated winch

A foot switch would be much safer as it guarantees the operator is not under the plow screaming UP UP UP while it goes Down. No need for a VOX guillotine. One should not design controls that allow an operator to be in harms way while operating it. This goes for wired or relocated switches in this ca...

Re: Water Leak

BTW, the Streamlabs link I posted above now does show the in line water flow sensor with integrated valve and auto shut off feature. They use ultrasonic flow sensing and have proprietary firmware to identify small leaks. This wasn't yet available when I first posted. Its the same company that makes ...

Re: Print Issues

Printing from an ink jet or color laser might cost nearly as much as the print edition in supplies to make your own especially if you consider the cost of the printer in addition to toner and paper. There are lots of options for E reading. Blue light filters in settings or in screen protestors can h...

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Yes, Alexa with a prime membership with Music Unlimited will run you about $225 per year plus the device. Apple will cost about half that because you don't need the prime membership. The Android play store has many Jukebox apps, I haven't tried any but after all her CDs are ripped, this would be the...

Re: Easy to Use Home MP3 Player for Older Person

Both Alexa devices and Facebook portal can play music with voice commands from cloud libraries or I heart music, Spotify, Pandora etc. If she is not too connected to her own library, this is the easiest way to go and you get other features too. Google and Apple also have Smart Speakers, I think this...

Re: Question about Fast adaptive charging

I got that USB meter and it was useful in several ways. The biggest thing I learned was that the USB cable is every bit as important as the charger and load. I found that with a longer generic USB cable, I was only able to get 435mA charge and the slow charge warning but when I changed to a short 6 ...
