The problem is that the delay is usually expressed it terms of degrees of crankshaft rotation. Thanks for the quick summation of the 555 timer, seems to be the sort of thing I'm looking for. With regards to it being a 5V or 12V signal, would be amazed if it wasn't 12V, but will have to ask the question I suppose!
