There are common cathodes and common anodes on the displays. Thats why there PNP's or NPN's.

can't find chip?
You can get twice the power out of a chip by bridging it! But one will have to be 180* out of phase. But you will be using twice the chips for each channel.

To, Mr. AL; I reduced the capacitor to 0.22uF plastic or mylar or cermic (NPO) I guess it will havt to be (back-to-back) also to make a 0.11uF. I revamped the resistance values using a TLO82, chip.
