Re: Electronic US Currency

It is a metallic strip, and it may not react to "turkey oven frequency" but two or more strips will react at one or more of the many Microwave frequencies. Two strips placed adjacent will form a capacitor with the muslin paper/cloth forming the dielectric. By random chance alone you need a...

Re: motion detector

About twenty years ago I had the Designer kit and about 50 of those head units. [12 cents each !] As I recall in the text, to fix your day light problem, its one of the comparator circuits that has a timing / bias circuit that speeds up or slows down how fast the hot VS cold timing cycle can be befo...

There are many types of Gas analyzers. What does yours say it is? CO, CO2, HC, NO, etc., etc.?

Re: Temperature comparison, differential

Avoid the solid state temperature sensors if you absolutely need that sort of accuracy. Their resolution isn't that accurate, claiming only a plus/minus two degree accuracy. Other than that, they work just fine. Do you want a solid state system, manual bi-metal type or both, and what sort of hystere...

Re: Control panel lighting

There is a acrylic plastic called "light pipe" than takes light in sideways and lights up the whole surface into that light source or color. "TAP Plastics" [on the web now] of California has some in the web catalog, but I havent had time to investigate the whole thing?

Re: motion detector

Yes,...... after the power supply going into the bridge rectifier, it usually has a semi large electrolytic cap to hold down the ripple and stabilize the voltage, which then leads onto the control circuits. If you cut the trace out at this point, after this cap or general area, and run the power out...

Re: motion detector

Not all motion detectors stay on after a power outage. On some of my units I have to spike the power on fast, [on and off] in order to make it stay on? Im also not sure if this is a function of the unit in question, or just a quirk? Some "stick" on, others work normally? However, if you is...

Re: DC to DC voltage doubler

They do make DC to DC convertors. [About fifteen dollars] Pico, Possibly All Electronics, and dozens of other companies sell these convertors. On the Web search for "DC to DC, Invertors, and Power Supplies" for the many companies. If you have to step it up higher than necessary, it is easy...

Re: Help with simple diode circuit ???

I need to do some experimenting also, but I would say that if the files are already within the JPG, they will be considered to be a "Photo" in it self, regardless of the data. If something has two parts to it, as in a separate "JPG" and a separate "TXT" file, they would...

Re: Help with simple diode circuit ???

Ron, ...what do you mean by quote? You can "copy and paste" Address lines and other info as if they were plain text, and photographs / drawings have a "photo" insert section below under "image"? I haven't tried the image yet?

Re: Help with simple diode circuit ???

In a simple circuit where there are two fixed components like one resistor, and one simple type diode, and for simplistic understanding, ohms law applies and you can equate the values as if the diode were a on/off switch rather than a diode. The diode is either on, or off, not varying in resistance ...

Re: Help with simple diode circuit ???

Im not sure about what your trying to achieve? Are you looking for the "Internal Happenings" of the diode, or just the general OHMS law, external to the diode? The voltage through a diode and its passage in general consideration, don't change or vary in that they break down at the given vo...
