Re: Is Nuts and Volts dead ?

Just a mini-rant. One of the areas I am still, or rather was, active in is electrical and electronic repairs for local printers and a binder. Ignoring the effects of this current pandemic, smaller, under 50 employee bindery and printing companies, are withering on the vine. Books are being sent over...

Re: Height Adjustable Monitor Stand

From the looks of it's design I would take the chance on that one. It has the long slides that will lower it, and it might be mounted with additional holes to the monitor differently if needed. If you're not sold on that stand, look at this one. It is a simple pipe in the back and it looks like it h...

Re: UVC Testing - Willing to pay!

Not sure I fully embrace your ambition, nor know about your electronic background, but here's a deal. My wife was a dermatology RN for years and she was involved in UV light treatments for skin disorders. When there was a problem with a light box, I repaired them. Usually it was a proprietary electr...

Re: Kodak Photo Resist (KPR)

Here's some info from MG Chemicals! Q. How do I dispose of Ferric Chloride Solution? A. There are two ways: Contact your local Hazardous Waste Disposal Company The solution must not be put down the drain because of residual copper ions left in it. To make it safe for disposal, you can add sodium ca...

Re: Help a Fellow Out

A quick E-bay look shows many weather band radios new and used, for around $20. Ordering bit piece parts could cost that much in shipping if ordered from several vendors, and, who carries 'radio' parts any more anyway? And at the risk of destroying a working radio, is this really a sensible DIY proj...

Re: slippery screen

Most 'smart' phones have a glass screen, so trying to make them less slippery might be tough.
Why not just get a plastic screen saver and scuff it as needed. At least it doesn't damage the phone.

Re: fading away

Consider that the pitch of the noise is likely related to the speed of the culprit.
Since the motor runs faster than the drive mechanism it's squeal is likely to be a higher pitch!
All senses are needed for troubleshooting!

Once in a lifetime deal

I got busy recently and located an old hoard of Travan, QIC, Zip and 3.5 disk media! I think there may a drive lurking about, so I need to look deeper. The value is 'priceless' so don't insult me with a low ball offer. The firm price is FREE, just pay shipping from the East Coast Don't let this once...

Keurig Coffee Maker tip

Remember, if the brewer makes short cups, the most likely problem is a clogged lower needle. The machine works on a timed cycle and a clog slows down the flow since the back pressure increases. A quick check is to cut the bottom out of a used brew cup and run a cycle to check the water level. If goo...
