Re: Lafayette Stereo-10 Amplifier

Cool. Nice to know it was something simple. Some of these early transistor designed amplifiers can be really well made. Thus, they can out perform a lot of crappy cheap amps that die within a few years. Just have to remember to give it a bit of a cleaning, once every few years. Signed...

Re: Lafayette Stereo-10 Amplifier

First guess would be output transistor. Next, an aging volume potentiometer. Let us know what you find! Do you have an actual model number on the amplifier? I've been digging through Sams PhotoFacts and not finding it. I agree with it possibly being fried output transistor(s). But, I would think tr...

Re: HotSpot question

Hmmm.......... I agree some what with Kheston, in that there is probably network congestion generated by other users in the evening. But instead of spending a lot of money on a repeater/extender. How about a simple directional DIY Antenna. I found these on YouTube. Simple cardboard & tinfoil reflect...

Re: Looking for power injector for amplified antenna...

WHAAAAAAT?! How did this go from a 12Vdc powered pre-amplifier to a 6Vdc signal booster?! As for the USB Power Jack on the Television......... Check what the amperage is. Televisions made in the past 5 years have a 1 to 2 Amp maximum current rating on the USB Power Jack. Most older Televisi...

Re: Shopjimmy

WOW! Thanks Janitor Tzap! Precious info! I don't suppose you would sell one of those, if you have any spares? Appreciate your help! John Nope, sorry. Check DigiKey, Newark, or E-bay. Price will vary. But expect to spend a buck or two for the part, and several dollars on the shipping. Signed:...

Re: Looking for power injector for amplified antenna...

I don't see why the Channel Master Power Supply wouldn't work. :? The RF-Connectors are different from the Kingray Power Injector's. So, you would need to replace those connectors on the cables to RG-6U connectors. But if you need the Power Injector to be like the Kingray Power Injector. That is goi...

Just make sure it is the right polarity for your preamplifier.

Re: Shopjimmy

The diode was a 9 volt Zener, so swapped it out, and the capacitor. No joy. Inspection under a heat sink on a 8-pin dip reveals the IC blew a lead right out of the case. Dunno what IC it was, other than, "IC900". Without a part number for "IC900", I have no way to replace it. Suppose I could buy a ...

Re: Realistic specs

Wanna know what's funny? The LM386 has a 470 uF as a recommended (by modders) upgrade for the output, and that is usually only around 1/2 watt. So Maybe??? Depends on what I have when the time comes. For now, it's up and running. Well, If your looking for the Capacitors. Electronic Goldmine has som...

Re: Realistic specs

Yes, much better pic's! Hmmm......... Now that I can see the pins on that amplifier chip, under the heatsink. Plus, you got a shot of the underside. :) I'm wondering if putting in 470uF or 1000uF will make much of a difference in the sound quality. The TDA2822 is only 1 watt per channel. So changin...

Re: Shopjimmy

Looks like some carbonization on the board around D903, and C903 (100 MFD, 100V), but haven't got the time to dig in deeper. Hmmm......... There are a lot of poor grade Electrolytic Capacitors that have been showing up in lower quality brand TV sets. {Especially in Power Supplies.} The carbon on th...

Re: Shopjimmy

I've used Shopjimmy and PTS, both places are reliable.. Shopjimmy isn't so good with shipping cost, they were kinda high a few times for piddley parts. Yeah, Shipping can kill even a really good deal on parts. :( I've ordered parts through RockAuto, because they were cheaper than getting the parts ...

Janitor Tzap- It sure looks like the power supply assembly- https://www.shopjimmy.com/olevia-eec-pwb159dg000-power-supply-unit/ They claim to harvest cosmetically inferior TV's for their good components. Have to wait and see if I actually get to buy one. It would of helped that you include a model ...

Yes, they are real. I haven't used them myself, but plenty of other people have. Ah, jwax..... They don't seem to be selling the actual Power Supply PCB. {Unless they are selling it under a different brand that uses the same Power Supply.} But a repair kit, that has the most common parts that fail ...
