RC Snubber Circuit Basics

Does it matter which comes first? the R or the C relative to ground? I am using an RC snubber on some long serial comm lines. They are working great but I noticed I had the C on the positive side of the R to ground? I guess I assumed RC meant just that, R then C to ground.

Please help!

Thanks,

Joe

I do believe it was Kennedy who got schools funded for big science and math programs. India and China are spending money on educating there children. Soon people in the US will aspire to attend univerties in India and China rather than our US schools. I guess the good news is the US will always be a...

Re: Dual Vout Supply Chip

I couldn't find any DC-DC converters with enough output current. I need + 100mA - 100mA. The 7805 / 7660 looks like it will work. That is if I can figure out how to use the 7660. At first blush it looks very simple. With two 10uF caps and +5V in I get -5V out? What about the switch to ground from pi...

Dual Vout Supply Chip

I've sucessfully built a video amplifier using the LT1193. Now I want to put the +5V and the -5V on the same board with a ~12VDC input. Does anyone have a good transformerless buck circuit for this task? Oh by the way I just used the circuit shown in the application information part of the LT1193 da...

Don't forget fiducials on you board layout. And do keep trying. If something is cool and useful you can sell it. I can get a pint of potato salad from Wal-Mart for 50 cents. I'd rather have the better tasting potato salad from King Soopers for 90 cents per pint.

If not Ebay then maybe there is a local ITT Tech or other tech school near you. I've given many components to tech schools. They love it. And sometimes they can give you a reciept for taxes. Tech students are always looking for more parts to let the smoke out of. And hey maybe you'll make some frien...

Re: RS-170 Video Amplifier Suggestions Needed

Fiber optics would be sweet. But I would need a removable connector. I think linear technologies has the best solution for me. I'm going to get some LT1256's and some other amplifier chips from LT and play around until I get it. RonH I believe the application note design does have enough range for m...

Re: RS-170 Video Amplifier Suggestions Needed

Bigger picture: Nothing can be larger than 1.75" in diameter. This is an underwater camera for a water well or pipe line. I've looked into off the shelf boosters and none are small enought to fit in my housing. Putting them inline poses leakage problems. Yes .78 dB is lo but the cable is almost .35"...

RS-170 Video Amplifier Suggestions Needed

I am using a small marshall electronics black and white video camera to transmit video via a coax cable. I want to extend the range of my system but better coax is very expensive and or much larger in diameter. I know this is a problem that has been tackled before. I can tolerate losing half of my v...

Re: Current sensor

What if you install more insulation. If your water heater runs you are either using up the hot water or you are losing heat into the air around the tank. If you install a timer you might not have hot water when you want it. Or if the water cools when the timer is "off" then it will have to run longe...

BLDC Motor control using Picbasic pro.

Any PBP or PB coders out there with BLDC motor control projects? I am starting a project for a variable speed BLDC motor. I've seen all of microchips ap notes and am clear on the concept. Just wondering if anyone out there has done any PB work on the subject.
