Re: Xbox 360 Repair

Thanks dacflyer. I have since bought (my third) Xbox 360. The repair kit sells for $14. It is just a couple of screws and washers, so I will probably try it myself. Just for the fun of it. I am over 40 (and still love gaming). I have 6 kids so if it works, they get an extra game console out of it, i...

Xbox 360 Repair

Hello Folks, A few weeks ago my XBOX 360 died (This was my second one). All the research on the internet suggests that the processor and graphics chips have bad solder connections (they are BGA parts). The repair kits that are sold basically have you remove the clips holding the heatsinks down and r...

DC to DC converter Recommendations

Hello folks, I need to power a Telit GSM modem from a car cigarette lighter. Telit wants 3.8v (2 amp) and also states that if using a switching regulator, a 500kHz or more switching frequency regulator is preferable. They show a two step process, one taking the voltage down to 5v and then dropping i...

I am stuck with this vendor. It is electrically erasable, not UV.

8051 programming loss

Hello Folks...I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with the 8051 processor (I am using Silicon Labs flavor). I have an issue where after programming the processor, it runs fine...usually for a long time. But there are certain cases (and my guess is that it might have to do with low...

DC Voltage Monitor

Hello Folks, I have a "calibrated" bench supply (GW INSTEK). I am suspect that it occasionally browns out (Seems like it happens on only 1 of the 4 channels), but since I am not there all the time, I have no way of knowing. I was thinking of a DC datalogger, but they are $250 give or take....

Well, Pico Scopes start at $400. The data loggers they make (which is apparently my goal, in their terms) Start at $190. I would say $100 -$150. If I can't find something is this range, I will just forgo and use the old fashioned way...Measure and write it down periodically (LOL)!

Hey Al, Thanks for the offer, but I am really looking for something built already. I don't want to buy a meter with a computer interface. But rather, there are PC scopes out there that are simply an interface to the PC. I could use that, but I wanted to reduce the cost, since right now I am don't ne...

PC Based Multimeter (USB)

Hello Folks, I need to measure the voltage (and current) on a device I am building (Voltage is under 5v and current under 500mA). I don't need a PC Scope and want to keep the price down. Are any of you familiar with/can recommend a PC based multimeter that can do logging? A USB model would be requir...

haklesup, Let me clarify the use case here. I press a button and a micro processor is started. Once it finishes doing what its' programming tells it to, I would like to pull an IO line High and have the circuit power off the micro. It is really a case of conserving as much power as possible and to a...
