Re: Inductors in parallel - Brilliant or wacky?
I guess the effect could be measurable in controlled conditions. If it were a fixed frequency switcher what would change if the inductance was larger or smaller? (Given the same load and input/output voltage). I do not believe it is an air core inductor as the spec sheet says "High saturation c...

Inductors in parallel - Brilliant or wacky?
Hey guys. I'm making a pc board for a switching power supply rated at 2 - 3 Amps. The switcher requires an inductor of 100 - 200uH. I might make a lot of these as I am trying to design a cool product for hackers like us. Here's the thing......... I bought a big bunch of surplus inductors rated 330uH...

SDCC compiler problems
Guys, I am trying to run some C programs from the Silicon Labs website. I'm using the Silicon Labs IDE and the SDCC compiler. I'm fairly new to this but it seems nothing short of ridiculas. I can't find ANY documentation on the SDCC compiler. The users manual doesn't describe any syntax, error codes...

Looking for H Bridge driver
I'm looking for a good half or full bridge driver preferably available at digikey. "Good", as in, infinite current, impervious to overloads, small footprint, and costs about 5 cents. It should also do laundry when I'm out. But barring that......... Electronically simple, just on/off. Short...

Re: Electrostatic problems
I figured it out. I thought it was the flux. But I cleaned the boards so it wasn't. HEY. who says I can't slide the electronics around a staticy/staticky/sticky carpet??? Can't I have ANY fun? Doesn't the grounded metal box count for SOMETHING? I was using the wrong program. This in itself wasn't th...

Electrostatic problems
Hello smart guys......... got a question for you. Good for the board too. I make small electronic gadgets for local manufacturers and I've been making this PIC based gadget for a few years now. It's a small PIC micro on a 4" X 4" board powered by a 24VAC transformer. Everything is housed i...

Why is it I can't buy one of these cells?
Miles and miles of spin and hype but you can't buy one for independent testing.
Guess you'll just have to take their word for it.

Re: The Origin of Life (Electrical)
A few (logical) words about knowing, and not knowing. It stands to reason that if there is no God, and no intelligent design, man cannot "KNOW" anything at all. Anything our minds knew would be susceptable to the fickle forces of blind, programmed, evolution, and therefore, suspect. How wo...

Oh no,not another LED lighting question...........
Got a BIG BIG sign, translucent red, lit from behind by fluorescent lamps. Maybe 20 10' letters in it. Now I'm thinking, due to thier characteristics in this application, Leds could really outdo even efficient fluorescents. Consider that fluorescents light 360 degrees, so a lot of light is lost towa...

Solder from Hell
I'm assembling a multitude of PIC driven boards for a product. I get some help from various people to do the soldering. So one of my guys suddenly starts delivering blobbed solder, burnt traces, crappy boards. I threaten to cut him off so he tries harder but keeps delivering crappy boards. I bring h...

switching power supply VDE compliance
Whoo wa! Talk about a can of worms and hardly any info on the net! I've made a device that uses a UL approved adaptor. So the INPUT of the device complies with UL. But what if I use the OUTPUT of the adaptor to power a switching DC to DC converter and sell it at a retail level????? Are there EMI or ...
