Electronic energy savings
Anybody got any innovative energy savings?? I think the best energy savings is the boring stuff, like extra insulation, window replacement, temperature set-back etc. But..........<p>Lets try to take a careful look at other innovative ideas. <p>One idea is to use flourescent lighting. It's a great id...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
A hint of intelligence and then the same old, same old. Chris insults the intelligence of the readers here every time he posts. Chris, the readers of this forum are more intelligent than your insulting, repetitive rants suggest. I think Chris might be a Christian fundamentalist, he's definitely show...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
Hmmmmm, my foot is definitely in my mouth. Your numbers actually seem accurate. Let me apologize for that, I just assumed you pulled numbers from the air again. I don't disagree with your philosophy of investing some money in solar panels at the exhorbitant cost of .40 cents per kWH either but too m...

Re: Solar panel sleight of hand
Congratulations Chris, you almost make sense here. However............your psychotic passion for solar panels is making you say the opposite of the truth......again. <p>If you wanted to get into the heat effect of roofs it would be far far cheaper, and more efficient, and less costly to use a more r...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
More stupid numbers. Chris, I gave you a certain amount of credit before this thread started because of your contributions in other areas of electronics. My advice to you is to stick to your electronic abilities. I'm not going to debate your moronic, childish rantings anymore. Thats is, if you could...

Re: A practical solar panel installation cost analysis
You're paying such a high price per kWH using solar panels I would think you'd like to get the most power from them you can regardless of "peak" periods. Maybe if you did maximize the angle for the grid peaks you'd get more of a benefit but I doubt it. A residential unit would get very lit...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
Peter, a calculater is a bad example, it's small and has almost no material cost to it. Aluminum plate might be a good example. Like solar panels there's a process to manufacturing aluminum plate, it also has weight and size like solar panels do. It costs to store, ship, and manufacture aluminum pla...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
Chris you seem to be acknowledging you're not here to post relevent information, but to play games. Posting false information, hiding little "Easter eggs" for us to find. That's ok with me, you just lost more credibility. I'm here to clarify issues about a worldwide energy problem so that ...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
WOW! I posted at 4:00, you posted at 5:18! You came up with all that info in 78 minutes? I wonder how accurate it is??????? What's the cost of that? Will the panels need any maintenance? What happens year to year as the 1,000,000,000 panels start to derate? So many questions.......... But I don't ne...

Lets take a look at what Chris says after his long and wing post on "Myths".................<p>"Economics is always the driver- make them "affordable" and they will sell. However, when you extrapolate the current $4/watt initial cost, add installation and control equipment, ...

Oh yeah and Chris, some of the "myths" you posted are verifiable data which I've provided. You don't dispute numbers because you can't. In fact, you've provided very little info in your 20 or so replies. I call people like you environmental terrorists. You misinform, confuse and befuddle i...

Re: Solar cells down to details...
I've posted various numbers and scenarios indicating even if solar panels were FREE, yes FREE, (check this Chris, before you post another "prices will come down" filibuster). If the panels were FREE, the install cost + the financing cost + the support devices cost, would be MORE than your ...

Re: A practical solar panel installation cost analysis
Ok, I got a few more quotes. This was one quote but it is ridiculasly high. Install cost is closer to $5,000.00 not $25,000, but that is what I was quoted.<p>Total system cost installed would be $20,000. A $20,000 loan amortized over 40 years at 5% interest the yearlyly payments would be $1,000, the...

Re: A practical solar panel installation cost analysis
I might add, if the solar panels were free the loss would be about $150.00 per year.
