Harrison when I review the Sitemedia site for product, I do see teh web server but no carrier circuit board product. I noticed one does get the carrier board with the development kit but you mentined that the development kit is not required. I am assuming the carrier board basically allows one to in...

Harrison, that is a nice display of information. With your arrangement you have the siteplayer web server connected to another microprocessor that gathers the information from the weather site sensors? You mentioned that the siteplayerr is easy to set up. I am assuming one will need to also buy the ...

Thank you Harrison, this is exactly what I was looking for. I notice from your site significant that the interface can be customize significantly to provide a friendly user interface. I was thinking of design a device where by I would couple this site server to a controller that would manage a digit...

Web Interface Device

Has anyone tried to build a project whereby the device controller had a web HTML interface. This would permit the project to be connected to a local LAN that allow a peron to access this controller to status or to control a function. I notice a few devices advertized in the Nuts & Volts publicat...

Re: A/V Switcher Project

Thank you for the offer. The specific chips I was looking for are the MAX399 and the MAX454CPD. What I found is most stores (web sites) only carry the MAX232 product from Dallas Semiconductors. Based on your suggestion I have asked for a sample of the above chips. Dave

A/V Switcher Project

Does anyone know of a good soure for the MAX chip set used in the A/V switcher project in the current issue of Nuts & Volts. I have looked in several places and have not found a source. If they carried the MAX chip it is often the MAX232. Also like to know of anyone's experience in building this...

Dan, thank you for your reply. I am glad the people at N&V are taking this approach to ensure valued articles are only published. Dave

Re: Pseudorandom Flickering Effects Project

Athough I am very interested to build a candle fame simulator there is another issue of importance. I am surprise wit the lack of comment and feedback on this issue. The issue is about articles that are submitted for publication should provide the option to the reader of dounloading or typing in the...

Re: Pseudorandom Flickering Effects Project

Ned that is an interesting approach. A while back TJ Byers presented a circuit with four 555 timers each operating at a different frequency and with different duty cycles. The outputs are combined to a signle LED. I ended building this circuit and played around with the timer values in order to get ...

Re: Pseudorandom Flickering Effects Project

I am really surprise that there have not been any further comments to this item. By now, hopefully more people will have had the chance to read this article. I thought articles that include a PIC would generally have the program that is either printed or downloadable from a FPT site. Again if a pers...

Pseudorandom Flickering Effects Project

In the lastest issue of N&V there is an article on building a pseudorandom flickering effects circuit using a PIC. But, no where in the article is the program listing or on the FTP site. Does this mean that a person has to buy it from the author or is there a generic program than can be used for...

Re: Functional Generator Question

Based on further investigation and product review, I being to think that it is better to purchase a functional generator rather than to build one. Bu the time one adds up the cost of the circuit components, knobs, switches and housing, the price starts to get close to a commerical ready unit. This i...

Re: Reverse Polarity on 555 timer???

I have mistakenly applied a reversed 10 volts to the 555 timer several times without any damage. But I am not sure on the long term effect with continued applicaiotn of a reverse voltage. For the cost and space of a diode, I would recommend adding it as a precaution. Dave

Re: Functional Generator Question

My suggestion of building a function generator came about while I was repairing my old Heathkit sine-square wave generator (1G-18). I got it working and calibrated. But I still think it would be handy having a functional generator with a digital freq read out. The Max038 chip does have a TTL output....

Re: Functional Generator Question

Thank you for your comments. While searching for a functional generator schematic I came across the kit #101 as well as the original article as you mentioned Chris. I was not too sure if there were another choices of chips that could be used for this and was not aware of the Intersel one. I may have...
