Re: Ramsey FM transmitter advice

It comes with a collapsable whip antenna and puts out up to 25 MW. Not sure how that fits into the FCC rules. It has digital tuning so it won't drift off frequency with a DRO. I think that the FCC rules talk of Effective Radiated Power. Not sure if this is over the limit or not?

Ramsey FM transmitter advice

Just ordered a Ramsey FM 25 FM radio transmitter to broadcast the audio into a park for a outdoor movie, so that I won't have to amplify the sound so loud--people could use their walkman-type radio headsets.

Anybody have any advice or tips for me from their experiences? Anybody build one of these?

Re: making an lcd TV into a message board?

The Y box site is interesting. But their kits appear to be sold out and the resolution of the TV monitor on the youtube demo is pretty primitive. SETEC's idea of using a computer gives me a thought. Some of the new tv's have inputs to used as a computer monitors and maybe I can program something in ...

Re: making an lcd TV into a message board?

I assume that you mean to use Power Point? Is there an easy way to add time and temperature to the picture? That would give people more reason to look at it. Thanks--Mike.

making an lcd TV into a message board?

Has anyone seen a good way to generate high quality graphics to display on an LCD television (or any tv for that matter)? Was thinking of using a TV as a sign board to advertise specials and give the time and temperature etc. The commercial made programable signs are really expensive and I was think...

Re: Best AM Broadcast band Radio for dx?

There isn't an antenna input so I tried using a 25' piece of wire with the end wrapped around the ferrite antenna for a few turns and it only added to the background interference. Maybe I can use a piece of coax cable and take the antenna outside. I saw an article once that used a coil of wire wound...

Best AM Broadcast band Radio for dx?

What is the best radio for getting AM radio 550 to 1600 KC broadcast band reception? One friend said that I should get a car radio and another said to get a GE Super Radio. How about some external antenna to boost reception? I like baseball and football and some of the games aren't on TV so I want t...

Re: Radio Electronics magazine?

Thanks guys. I get Poptronics and Nuts and Volts but I also get some woodworking and metal working mags and can't read them as fast as they come in. When I was trying to sort them out I notice the "missing" issues of RE. I better go read faster.

Radio Electronics magazine?

I used to get radio electronics magazine and haven't rec'd it in a while--are they out of business or did I forget to re-subscribe? Thanks--Mike.

Re: TV Remote Setup Codes: NEED HELP!!!

I keep my kitchen remote in a baggie so it doesn't get gooey when I'm eating pancakes and watching tv. You need the original remote to set the clock and adjust the preference controls--the universal remotes won't do those. Thanks--Mike.

Re: TV Remote Setup Codes: NEED HELP!!!

I sell Magnavox tvs and I own one of the sets you describe here. The remote for this set won't work with my other Magnavox sets so that means is was built by someone else and labelled as Magnavox.<p>It could be so obscure a set that the codes aren't programmed into those remotes. Go to Menard's and ...

Re: Computer Control

I just re-read the thread here and what Russ said is just what I said in another way. I think he is on the right track. I used opto isolators (instead of reed relays) with 220 ohm resistors in series with the built-in leds to ground to avoid drawing too much current thru the LED's and damaging the p...

Re: Computer Control

Well it has been 10 years ago but here is what I remember and is subject to correction by better memories. Pins 2 thru 9 on the parallel port go high when the out is executed from gwbasic with the out(378, 255) command. 378 is the address of my parallel port and the data 255 (in base 8 obviously) ma...

Re: Computer Control

I have done as you have decribed hooking up a bunch of leds to the parallel port and it worked very well. Do you how to do it with the newer computers using Visual Basic? One of my computer friends said the only way is to buy somebody's I/O board and use their subroutines.(at a pretty high cost) Tha...

JBL woofers with bad foam surround

Has anybody got an idea how to fix a couple of cast frame JBL woofers with bad foam around the edges of the cones? A friend said he once saw a company that sold new cones and foam replacements. To get them reconed professionally would cost more than the speakers are worth, I'm afraid. Thanks--Mike.
