small quantitiy suppliers of RF components
Does anyone know of a company that sells small quantities of X-band gunn diodes, schottky diodes, horn antennas, rectifiers, parabolic reflectors, etc. So far all the companies I have come across only sell in quantities of 3000 for the diodes. I have come across some very small companies but so far ...

Re: Satellite dish design
Thanks for the input
But, please remeber this is a research project. I am also very aware of the fiber optic sensing. My advisor is an expert in fiber optic strain gages. We actually recently built some testing frames for building fiber optic arrays that would use strain measurements to work out t...

Re: Satellite dish design
Hello Mr. Smith,
Let me make sure I understand what you are trying to say. Basically you are saying that as long as my RFID loop antenna is at the focus of the parabolic antenna, all of the electromagnetic waves from the loop antenna that manage to hit the satellite will basically be focused out t...

Re: Satellite dish design
Bascially I am going to have a sensor node that consists of an impedance measurement chip, an atmel microprocessor, and an atmel U3280 RFID transponder. Ideally we would like to be able to deliver enough power to the sensor node so the microprocessor can localy analyse the data and then send a signa...

Re: Satellite dish design
Thanks for the info everyone that really cleared alot up. I am going to go home and brush up on my ray physics I have some new ideas in my head now. By the way In case any one is wondering, I am currently working on my master's degree in structural engineering. My research is in structural health mo...

Re: Satellite dish design
THanks for the reply's they were very thought provoking. For this particular application here is my idea. I am talking about electromagnetic waves here. Basically I want to see if it is feasible to use a dish to pump more than the usual amount of energy into a passive RFID tag which operates at 125 ...

Satellite dish design
I was wondering if anyone new where I can get information on sizing a satellite dish, satellite dish, satellite dish theory/physics. I have tried google but I havbe not had much luck yet. I basically would like to see if it is feasible to send and recive 125 kHz signals with a satellite dish. I have...

Re: output switch
Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner I was gone for the weekend Basically I only have one dedicated output line, and a number of input lines. I would like to somehow use my single output line to excite different PZT sensors in my network at different times. I only need to excite one PZT sensor at any ...

output switch
Does anyone know of any kind of device that will switch input and output lines of a DAQ system. Basically I have a system made up of PZT patches that can act as both sensors and actuators but i dont want to have to rewire the input and output into the DAQ card every time i want to switch between sen...

Surface Mount Chips
I am trying to start doing some work with surface mount chips. I would like to find some kind of socket/adaptor for the chips so I can mount them to a breadboard with no soldering what so ever. I have seen some adaptor boards for protoyping, but it still appears that you need to solder the chip to t...
