I suspect that your software is DOS dependent and that your installation of WindowsXP has upgraded beyond DOS. <p>If so, you can never go back again.<p>The Disk Defragment Utiltity will tell you if you are using FAT32 or NTFS. You can build your own PWM control using a 555 chip that inputs a voltage level and outputs a modulated pulse dependent upon the input voltage. Look in the manufacturer's fact sheets for this application or just Goggle around.

Lead Gel Cells are the least problematic.
