Voltage Ladder
I seem to recall from years past something known as a voltage ladder to step up voltage without need of a transformer. It used an oscillator(ex. 555-timer or 110-ac) then an array of diodes and capacitors to step the voltage up. It did not use an inductor or transformer as most DC-DC converters do. ...
