We have had the Verizon Fios internet & phone service for about 2 years.
Fios tv is available and I will be switching to that soon.
Customer service is much beter than our cable supplier and the 3 in one package Fios price will be much cheaper.
Local cable supplier is sweating a little

Connecting CMOS relay outputs in parallel
I am designing a circuit in which I will be driving 3 separate solid state optomos relays. Clare # LBA110. The supply voltage is 5vdc. Is there any problem paralleling the outputs to drive an LED or Sonalert? Spec sheets don't address this issue, but based on my limited cmos knowledge, it should work.

Digital Panel Meter common or floating ground
I am working on a temp sensor circuit using one of the common DPM modules. How about a clear explanation of the difference between the common and floating ground models. Since I need to offset the V- terminal by 2.554V, it would appear that I need to use the floating ground version. My V+ terminal w...

At one point you could download a free copy of RS-Logix 500 from Rockwell Software. The kicker is that you could only program a 10 or maybe 16 point MicroLogix 1000. I can look around my computer and see if I still have it. Otherwise, if you know the right people, they can loan you a copy of RS-Logi...

Thanks for the reply. I ended up figuring it out the old fashioned way. A few hours on my workbench revealed most of it's secrets. One interesting note, even though the power supply and measured voltage are supposed to have a common negative, it read dc voltage quite well from a different source tha...

PM-1029B Digital Panel Meter Questions
I bought a PM-1029B Digital Panel Meter from Circuit Specialists and Iam looking for any additional info on using it. The single date sheet that comes with it is not all that informative. I believe that there has been some columns on this and similar DPM's in Nuts & Volts over the past few years...

Chris, My original point remains that by doing some of things you mention, you will be violating the NEC in several areas. You cannot just modify electrical wiring, whether residential or commercial to suit your notion of what you believe will work better. Any electrical inspector would immediately ...

Chris, The NEC clearly distinguishes between a grounded conductor which will carry current under normal conditions and a equipment grounding conductor which is only intended to carry the fault current until the circuit breaker or fuse clears the fault current. They are not the same thing and should ...

Robert, Excellent post regarding GFCI operation. One of the common uses of a GFCI outlet is when updating older house wiring that used 2 conductor wiring without a ground wire. The NEC allows the use of a GFCI outlet to replace an existing ungrounded outlet which then also protects any downstream ou...
