Re: 3 Phase Power Calculation
Thanks Robert. I'll check into a wattmeter. I like the idea of making a look up table too. I don't need to be super accurate, just close.

Re: 3 Phase Power Calculation
So the best way to measure real power is to set up a system that can measure the pf at the different frequency and voltage levels that the VFD will produce? Are there formulas available that can calculate this pf value based on known characteristics of the system? For example I will be able to calcu...

3 Phase Power Calculation
I have some questions about calculating real power in a 3 phase motor when it's attached to a variable frequency drive. I have a formula from one of my old text books that reads like this. (I*E*1.73*pf)= P (in Watts) The VFD has an output for I and E that will go into my data system. The pf is print...

Re: Digital Controlled Pressure Switch
Ahh yes,
Engineer1138 has it correct. I'm not interested in measuring the pressure. I am looking to port an air pressure to one of three locations.
Sorry for my absence on this board. I forgot all about this project.
Thanks for the advice.

Digital Controlled Pressure Switch
I'm looking for a component that will take a small pressure input and allow me to switch it through three different ports using some sort of electronic control. A 2 bit digital signal would be ideal but I can work with any type of input. Does anyone know of a product like this and what a generic nam...

Re: car jumper cable question
Optima makes a good line of deep cycle automotive and marine batteries that could be good for this application. I would suggest keeping the car runningwhen using an inverter that powerful.

Re: PIC Basic Pro Programming Class
I'll agree with Philba. The PIC Basic language is easy to pick up. I would suggest learning it on your own with the help of some project based books. Then, after you get a good feel for it maybe take an advanced class.

Re: looking for an advice regarding research paper
Human,
Most of my college work involved using text books but, as we all know, the web is great for doing research.
I'm not sure I understand what sort of info you are looking for but www.sparknotes.com is one website that I found very valuable to get me through the literature classes I had to t...

Re: Computer as Oscilloscope
I have a thing called a pico scope (brand name) that hooks up to my parallel port. It was cheap, about $60 if I remember right. I don't like it though. The software bogs down my computer and things tend to freeze up a few seconds at a time.
I ended up going the route that Dean mentioned...ebay. It...

Robot Batteries
I'm building a new robot platform and I want to see if anybody has suggestions for a good type of battery to use.
The robot will have two 12VDC motors each drawing 1.4 amps. Eventually there will be a large amount of low power electronics and a more power hungry arm attached.
I want to be able t...

Thor,
This may be a good subject for a new topic.
Do you have two motors or servos? What type?
Also,
What type of controller are you using (if any).

Re: OSMC
Thats what I did try. I couldn't sign up for some reason. I was always sent to a page that said "do you yahoo?" really big on it and nothing else.
I was wondering if there are other websites with info like schematics or other details.

Re: OSMC
From what I understand the project is strictly a DC motor controller that people have collaborated on. I want to see how far they have gone, check out the design and possibly make some changes/improvements to it for my application.
