Re: Detecting a power source
Hello Mr Al.. I was hoping that you were going to chime in! and yes you understood me correctly. Over the years I have made numerous rechargeable gadgets and it getting hard to remember which needs which charger! I have a wide variety of battery packs and types... 3V lithium, AA NiMH, wide range of ...

Detecting a power source
Hello all, I had an idea to simplify my battery charging around my house with a battery charger that could "sense" the needed charging voltage. I'm not sure if something like this is out there already or not. The idea seems nice to have one jack on a box. Plug in any device and it will cha...

Re: 24V DC to 3 phase...
This is all great info. I was about to hit the buy button on gas go cart till I read this thread last night. I found some reasonable 1HP 1000W motors on the net. I dont know the RPM yet or the torque on them . I guess on thing to consider is a clutch to get it going. I still have a lot to think abou...

Re: 24V DC to 3 phase...
Are you sure you want to go that 3-phase route? . I know! I just caved and bought a 6hp go cart for 100.00 I will use the parts for my BSR. Its amazing how cheap a gas motor is to an equivalent electric motor. I would have love to get my "EV project" out of the way here, but it will have ...

24V DC to 3 phase...
Hello all, I am in the process of making a Bar Stool Racer (BSR) :D I'm looking at motors and finding there are a lot of 3 phase motors with the HP that I want. My BSR will be electric and I wanted to know if there was a circuit or device out there that can take 24V DC and convert it to 120V to 230V...

Reset Supervisor
Is there a chip that can monitor a reset line so if the line is active low for 1ms... it will latch low till a reset is given to it?

Re: Op Amp Selection
This is a great thread!
The smallest pulse that I will expect will be a 560nA from a photodiode.
I am looking at this part right now and hope to do some modeling with it soon.

O-Man... I cant wait to get my hands on some op amps!
What you said makes complete sense to what I am seeing in switcher cad.
I want to thank you for your time on this Rob and Al!

Re: Op Amp Selection
Wow what a great response Mr Al!
I see what you are saying and now have a better idea of whats going on.
Soo.. how does the slew rate relate,or does it, to the gain bandwidth?

Op Amp Selection
Hello all, I have a question! :? When selecting the perfect op amp for a design what do you look for in the datasheet? Say I want to amplify a 50ns pulse wit a period of 90us I want to amplify it 60x I am not restricted with the power supply. I know I have to look at the gain bandwidth of the produc...

Re: New to electornics
whoa there! No worries. You will be fine with what what you want to do im sure. Open source can be great because (its free and works) or (it doesn't work and I cant get any support) This will be a learning process for you... I'm just letting you know you have other options if this compiler crashes y...

Re: New to electornics
Errr.... C is the language you write in. The compiler takes the C code and creates a file used to be downloaded to the micro. I did some poking around and that site you looked at was some guys site to show you how to use an Arduino (never used one) but it looks like the processor on the Arduino boar...

Re: New to electornics
Well Sparkfun just had a "SparkFun Free Day" :D Each customer could get $100.00 worth of free swag! :D That looks like a great first step! What compiler do you have to use to write the code? The lego mindstorm could be considered a kid toy but I remember seeing some computer science majors...

Re: New to electornics
Hello Miguel and welcome. I have to agree with haklesup first post. I am a EE but my professors told me you want to become an embedded engineer. "be familiar with both hardware and software" don't waste too much time hand soldering components to breadboards... you will later find there are...
