Re: SMD soldering

I use EAGLE. Would you be willing to share your SCH and BRD files? I'd like to see your circuit. I guess I'm not sure what the point would be? It's not a very complicated design... It has less to do with the complexity and more to help us inderstand your OP. Also, other members of this forum use th...

Re: SMD soldering

Speaking of lead free solder- In my real job I've run into computer (PC) failures related to lead free solder ]. At least I think it was related to lead free solder. I programmed a control system that uses PC's for the HMI. The control room has problems with H2S in the air (too long to explain) and ...

Re: SMD soldering

I'm thinking about dusting off some boards that I had made a few years ago and putting them together to see if they'll smoke or work A big reason for why I didn't build them that I used SMD components in a few places. I'm curious if these are a kit, or your own design, and if the latter whether you...

Well... I guess I'll dive in and see what happens  Thanks for the info. I've got a Weller WES51. Can you suggest a heat range to operate at?

SMD soldering

I'm thinking about dusting off some boards that I had made a few years ago and putting them together to see if they'll smoke  or work  A big reason for why I didn't build them that I used SMD components in a few places. Not many... but enough to be really irritating to try to solder to ...

Re: Wonderful wonderful project!

If I had one nit to pick it would be that the top LED should be white  I built one of my trees with a white LED at the top. It is unlikely that white LEDs can be used in the current design, as it runs form only three volts (while on battery power). Most Blue and White LEDs require more than t...

We are so glad we helped you resurrect your soldering skills and give you a chance to show them off for a christmas gift! A forest of trees all blinking does look really impressive. I've had a dozen of the earlier version running . (I don't know the record for who has had the most running at one ti...

Wonderful wonderful project!

My soldering skills have laid dormant for about 3 years. I resurrected them to build not one but three of Picmas trees. I'm happy to say that all three lit properly on the first try. I wasn't surprised. The kit is well supplied, well described, and the layout is simple. If I had one nit to pick it w...

Re: Telescope Dome Controller

It seems to me that you would somehow want to key the location of the dome opening and rotation of the dome to the direction that the telescope is pointing. I suppose you could manually slew the opening to somewhat line up with the telescope opening and then rotate the dome at a rate that correspond...

Re: "Perfect" LED current limiting challenge

I've seen how they put chrome in the inside of a frito bag. It's pretty cool. They spray it on under a vacuum. I also watched them make a kajillion of those plastic Walmart bags that usually break about halfway back to the truck. Pretty cool. At one point it looks like a giant condom. Well... giant ...
