reason for ac motor stop
The objective is to cut down on lost time waiting for the blade to stop. They are both inductive motors (3/4 and 1 HP). What size should the diodes be? What is the time issue with the winding heating up? Does putting a 30 ohm wire wound resistor in series with the diode; limiting the current to 8 A ...

Instant Motor Stop
A shot of DC into an AC motor will instantly stop the motor. Plan is to open one of the 240 V Ac lines and insert a NC, Sw in parallel with a diode. Opening the SW will send the DC shot to the motor; the regular motor SW is shut off at the same time. What should the PIV and A ratings of the two diod...

The city graciously cut a six foot swath across the road removing the pavement to install a pipe perfectly positioned for a coil to be placed -- what luck! A miniture spoting scope sitting on a dusty shelf plus having contacted Edmund Optics will easily handle the other direction. THANKS! gentlemen,...

Needs to detect moving vehicles at night at a distance of 200 feet. Outputs to a 555 Schmitt trigger. (Houskhold motion detector shy of 200 feet. LDR/photodiodes worked until the town put in street lights - the farmer put in a flood light and the snow arrived.) Just the detector is needed. (Ultimate...

Re: paralleling a tractor solenoid
The second sentence should read Assuming the bendix is being engaged but solenoid contacts are fried.;
The the solenoid is sealled so I can't get at the contacts.
The starter motor brushes are a good length.
