Re: LED backlights in LG television...

Anything smaller than 40" is not worth repairing ... That size is less fragile; the dismantling part is less risky. Larger than 40" have a higher price sticker, worth repairing; if dismantling/reassembling goes well. Smells like the cost of the repair bill is more driven by the price of the item tha...

Re: LED backlights in LG television...

Thanks. Yes, just like your image, one emitter in a strip and another in other strip found dead; had to test all 60 one by one as failed open, the whole series section shows dark. Ordered all the dozen strips kit ($36) and will replace all the owner wants. Replacing the $0.10 emitters individually t...

Re: LED backlights in LG television...

Thank you, Tzap. After looking at some dismantling videos and closely inspecting how this LG 50LN5400 is put together, decided to NOT do it the way everyone does it. Good thing ! Handling such a large thin LCD and keeping it safely and lint/fingerprints-free aside until replacement emitters arrive w...

Re: LED backlights in LG television...

Seems this is it: second schematic = third image at : ----> https://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/2015/08/lg-power-supply-eay62810801-schematic.html?_escaped_fragment_ Q803 and Q805 are off, controlled by the IC shown below. Now I have to check on its data sheet ----> https://pdf1.alldatasheet....

Re: LED backlights in LG television...

Thanks, Tzap. Do not understand the above. I could "force" feed the supply into a LED strip by jumping from GND to L- with a ~100 ohm resistor ? +80V-------------------------- LED+ LED- ----------------Mosfet-----------------gnd (red is connector) Edited... Seems this is it: second schematic = third...

LED backlights in LG television...

Hi fellows. A LG model 50LN5400 TV has two circuits for backlights. They do not turn on. There is video by sticking a flashlight onto the screen. LED strips connector is marked L+, L- and L+, L- From both L+ to gnd there is 80 V. From L+ to L- nothing. Seems to be in a 'protection state' How to test...

Re: 18 Volt Sub C NiCd Battery Packs (1.2 x 15)

NiMH are replacements for NiCd. Same charging protocol, same charger useable. That was the point, to canibalize the PorterCable or any battery to use their cell packs in your application. BlackDecker have that offset centre row geometry too. Shown here ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPH11WVHp6o

Re: looking for a timer

A junk VCR could be a donor of its clock / timer set to "record" a daily program, firing a 15 second trigger.
Never played with an orphan smart phone with no service and set its clock alarm to audio-trigger something...

Re: Awsome Li-Po Pillow

Looks exactly like my lithium cell that fattened itself with no abuse nor fast food. Actually, bought new, charged properly once and left unused almost a year. Now it is a balloon... Viva China ! Am blowing it up with a sewing needle tiny hole, deflate and seal with a drop of glue hoping that diet w...

Re: 4G LTE Interference on OTA Antenna TV

Hi Tzap. Never had cable TV service in my life. OTA and FTA and now receiving streaming often. Did see portions of the video, seems more like an advertisement for that filter. Interesting shrink on the TV band. Is that like the marine Shakespeare omni antenna ? I have it but never fed power to it, a...

Re: Charging lithium ions

If a single 18650 lithium cell reaches 4.2V by charging; it is exactly what you want. It is like that and it is the way it should be. Calling them "3.7V" cells is not a precise term. Some lithium cell chemistries stay at 4.2V after charging; some decrease to 3.7V. Both behaviors are normal and OK. J...

Re: UVC Testing - Willing to pay!

I would use a CaF2 ? prism, make the UV beam pass trough it and see where is the refraction angle on a fluorescent painted target. It may show more than one A,B,C emissions at different levels.

Re: Citizens band (CB) Radio: Who still uses it?

Not me.
Last thing I learned is the 23 channel units are illegal to sell, but legal to use. :???:

It would be nice if something new develops with ~100m range, clipped to your sun visor, vox, 1 channel, as to converse with nearby drivers only.

Hi.
Yes, got that about a month ago; and for particular channels, individual notices to execute a scan when subchannels were added months ago.
