Re: Where can I get old Popular Electronics issues?
Alright, my university had the issue I was looking for today (may 1999 for the semiconductor tester) thanks for the help. Boy I wish nuts and volts had more articles on ham radio and test equipment. Where can I get old Popular Electronics issues?
I'm looking for some old popular electronics issues that I used to own, my copies mysteriously disapeared when I moved (my mother probably threw them away by accident). Anyway, I'm looking for issues from the mid to late 90s. Any one know where I can find them these days?

Re: Transistor Replacement
Thank you, 2N3553 will be a good replacement. They are also rare, but NTE has a replacement that is exactly the same.

Re: Star Linear Systems actuators
Hmm, strange. I kinda wish the article had more info on sources on how to aquire linear actuators, I have the BS2 it requires. I guess, you do have to build them, or use a different source than the author.

Re: PIC Project, Special Input
I would use an IR detector, and have an IR emitter on the emergency car emit in a certian pattern, when the detector notices this, it halts all traffic, and quickly gives the emergency car priorty.
What ive herd is that traffic signals have certian light detectors that look for a certian frequency...

Re: US made chip is cheaper in China, why?
Exchange rates are probably the reason. We dont really know the value of China's curency because its controled directly by the goverment, not the economy per se. They keep it low, so their people dont lose jobs to outside investment.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renminbi

Re: 8085 IDE
I have to agree the 8085 is a pretty good device. The Z80 is just as good. The problem with SDK-85 is that it is probably not made anymore, if it if, then I would probably have gotten it by now.
I'll spit out a few links and see if I hit the nail on the head.
http://www.oshonsoft.com/8085.htm...

I believe it was published by circuit cellar, I dont really know about that. However I do know it had a jameco coupon in the article although that expired a while ago....

Re: Turning a PIC into a keyboard
So if I use a 16F84 as a type of input interface and have it give input data to the 877 over part of port C then maybe I can use port A and B and the rest of C to send infomation to two 4 channel serial input DACs correct(http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm/qv_pk/1376/ln/ MAX514)? That could pro...

Re: Turning a PIC into a keyboard
Yes I feel like reinventing the wheel. Also It helps me learn a good deal of the capablities of what a pic can do. Cant learn how to be an engineer if you dont try.
