Re: Batteries in a vacuum

You don'twant to apply heat to a lithium battery as it seems to ignite them. If you search for igniting lithium batteries and then click on videos in yahoo search you would find a lot of movies and different ways to do it but I don't think there is one on igniting them in a vacuum. Mabe you should m...

Re: alternator question

Do you think this in car jumper would be big enough? It looks small in the picture but the description seems to say it is good. - http://www.wagan.com/index.php/2544-500 ... essor.html

Re: alternator question

I'm putting dual batteries in my jeep, with an isolator.. have a WARN winch, off road lamps, etc.. that require a lot of power, plus when my radiator (electric) fan comes on, the voltage drops to 11vdc or lower.. with headlights and that fan, I'm going backwards.. so I wanted an alternator that wou...

I don't agree with seat belts on bikes either. That safety sphere looks like a good idea but there could be problems with it too. - http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AvA ... =yfp-t-701

Re: Simple DC UPS

I meant the type of ups that has the battery disconnected from the circuit until needed would have a cheap and maybe rechargeable battery in it because the battery wouldn't get used much. If you connect a battery in parallel with a power source with a diode between the +'s then reverse leakage of th...

Re: Simple DC UPS

I don't have that month so I don't have the article but I can say that typically an UPS battery is just a back-up for emergencies so the battery is not used very much. It sounds like you want to use it for a charger and switch from the outlet to the battery often. If the battery is not used much the...

Re: Ni Cad battery packs to Ni-MH

I have not seen a charger that works for both types without switching from ni-cad to ni-mh and that type of charger doesn't usually come with power tool batteries. Putting ni-mh ones in the ni-cad charger would damage the battery. You are better off buying a ni-mh battery and charger for your power ...

Re: Solar Cell Powered Battery Charger for Indoor Use

You need good quality solar panels to power a device off of indoor light. They usually are small and expensive but rated at higher power for the size of them. The one mentioned available at harbor freight might not put out enough power on indoor lighting. The only circuit that would enhance the perf...

Re: Starting a project, solar powered night light

I leave the batteries on the charger for extended periods of time and they only charge up to a certain point without getting hot and the batteries are only a couple of years old. You might want to ignore that part because I found out my charger wasn't working too good. I thought it was nice because...

Re: The disappearing 9V, C, D, Battery?

You should shop online first. The old type batteries are not being dropped but they are not the biggest sellers in my opinion. If you had to rely on batteries for power more often then the cost of replacing them gets to be too much so recharge-ables are a better deal.

Re: Airplane mode laptop power...

You could turn off your battery manually by renaming ups.exe to something you would remember. To turn it back on just name it ups.exe again and double click on it. Or if you are more comfortable with just taking the battery out then do that. That seems like an unusual thing to do though. If you are ...

Re: electric flyswatter turned battery desulfator?

Here is a fast way to connect batteries to get a high voltage zap. You should put a battery or two that aren't working in line with them though. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2fD-hYVLxE

Re: electric flyswatter turned battery desulfator?

Just by putting a higher voltage to a battery than it is rated for is not a good idea. If this gets rid of the caustic properties with a good battery it should do the same with a sulfated one. I think you are thinking of putting a higher voltage to the battery to increase the rf field or the magneti...

Re: Starting a project

I'm in the process of designing a battery charger for ni-mh batteries and maybe expanding to lithium. With a solar charger you should consider a diode or two in the plans. You can put a diode in line with a solar panel but not with a regular charger. Then if you are worried about over-charging and h...
