3,175 cubic feet is 10' by 10' by 31.75'.

You could park a large SUV inside that volume.

How big is this car ?

I use Jamesco a lot and also Digikey. Digikey has a larger inventory of the parts I usually need - mostly industrial stuff. One hint: If you will accept back orders, mark your order " BILL ALL". That causes you to be billed for everything at once BUT there are no further shipping charges f...

Since I'm forced to use DOS ( and that's a very long story ), any USB device isn't a solution because there are no DOS USB drivers. Neither is a PCMCIA PC card driver available.
Maybe the question should be: Which LCD display technology gives the best viewing in very high light environments?

Sunlight Viewable Lap Top ?

I need an old Lap Top to run DOS with a clear sunlight viewable screen. The Lap Top should have a floppy and, hopefully, a parallel port. I would prefer an IBM Thinkpad but would like any suggestion. The machine will be used in a very bright environment reprogram PIC processors. There are thousands ...

A good source is government surplus dealers or sporting goods dealers. I bought a large batch for keeping the inside of a gun safe at low humidity. The stuff was packaged in paper/plastic packets. When I tried to dry it in the oven ( at slightly a lower temperature than the directions ), the metal g...

The water heater "usually" uses the bottom element because that part of the tank will get cold first. When a lot of water is drawn, the top of the tank will get cold and the top element will be used. ( Note: If the top element fails, you will run out of hot water and NOT switch back to the...

Try the Texas Instruments SN754410 Quadruple Half-H Driver.

It can handle 4.5 to 36 volts at 1 amp.

The PIC30 hardware is no more complex than the 80386 and that can be programmed to produce a hex file without a Linker. Most dedicated real-time PDP-11 based systems were done this way. Linkers allow modular code construction but are not really necessary. When you're pushing the memory or realtime s...

I've given up on trying to find an existing PIC30F DOS based assembler. The instruction set seems too complicated to use one of the configurable "generic" assemblers. That leaves (1) writing my own or (2) giving up. Being retired and having 45 years programming experience, option (2) may b...

What I hope to find is a cross-assembler to run on a DOS
machine and generate a HEX file. I have no need for a
Linker.

MicroChip PIC30F Assembler

I've done a lot of development with the PIC16F87x processors using the MPASM assembler and would like to change to the PIB30F family. What I'm looking for is a ASM30 Assembler that will run on a DOS machine. I have no need for the full ICE package and like using "old" laptops for dedicated...

Until I retired, I did a lot of long distance driving - 1,000+ miles per day. On our Interstates that can be done if you don't expect to do it more than one day in a row. I've often wondered why we don't put an electrified third rail in the left lane to allow hands-off driving. A "smallish"...
