I did not notice any type of plate holding the ribbon cable to the pc board. I suspect the cable was secured to the pc board by pressure supplied by the carbon film on the tips of the ribbon cable. If this is true, where can this type of adhesive be obtained?

In the attached drawing the ribbon cable going to the display has been disconnected from the printed circuit traces. There is no evidence of solder which has secured the cable to the traces.
